Comparison of models predicting efficacy of radioiodine therapy in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer.
Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) is the most common type of endocrine malignancy, with rising incidence over recent decades. Despite a favorable prognosis, DTC management remains complex, often involving thyroidectomy followed by radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy. While RAI is crucial for patient outcomes, its efficacy varies, necessitating the identification of predictors for treatment response. ⋯ Our study underscores the utility of sTg as a single parameter for predicting RAI efficacy in DTC patients, with a defined cut-off value facilitating clinical decision-making. The inclusion of CLT status may further enhance predictive models. There is a need to advance personalized management approaches for DTC patients undergoing RAI therapy.

Diverticular inflammation and complication assessment does not predict diverticulitis in asymptomatic individuals.
Recently, a three-step endoscopic scale, known as the Diverticular Inflammation and Complication Assessment (DICA), was introduced to predict the course of diverticular disease (DD), yielding some promising outcomes. However, analyses were performed only for symptomatic individuals. ⋯ In our cohort, DICA scale had no predictive value for the occurrence of diverticulitis. Hence, has a limited predictive value for occurrence of diverticulitis and more studies on bigger cohorts are necessary to test its usefulness.

Application of the TRI-SCORE to predict long-term mortality in acute heart failure patients with moderate-severe tricuspid regurgitation.
Moderate to severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) in the setting of acute heart failure (AHF) has been found to be associated with worse clinical outcomes. Recently, the TRI-SCORE was developed to predict clinical outcomes after isolated tricuspid surgery. ⋯ AHF patients with moderate to severe TR have a poor prognosis during follow-up. TRI-SCORE can predict all-cause mortality in these patients.

Prognostic significance of anti-gliadin and anti-F-actin IgA antibodies in primary sclerosing cholangitis.
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a biliary disorder associated with a high risk of end-stage liver disease and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Currently prediction of the unfavorable outcomes is hindered by the lack of valuable prognostic biomarkers. ⋯ Anti-gliadin and anti-F-actin IgA identify the subgroup of PSC patients with the more severe disease and at risk of shortened transplantation-free survival.

Hospitalizations of patients with rheumatoid arthritis in Polish intensive care units or cardiac intensive care units in 2011-2021: population study.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease associated with significant comorbidities, including cardiovascular and respiratory complications, leading to increased hospitalization rates in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and Cardiac Intensive Care Units (CICUs). This study examines factors related to ICU/CICU admissions among Polish RA patients from 2011 to 2021. ⋯ The findings emphasize the need for early intervention and comprehensive management strategies to mitigate severe RA complications. Future research should explore long-term outcomes and the impact of RA treatments on ICU/CICU care.
