Hospitalizations of patients with rheumatoid arthritis in Polish intensive care units or cardiac intensive care units in 2011-2021: population study.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease associated with significant comorbidities, including cardiovascular and respiratory complications, leading to increased hospitalization rates in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and Cardiac Intensive Care Units (CICUs). This study examines factors related to ICU/CICU admissions among Polish RA patients from 2011 to 2021. ⋯ The findings emphasize the need for early intervention and comprehensive management strategies to mitigate severe RA complications. Future research should explore long-term outcomes and the impact of RA treatments on ICU/CICU care.

Assessment of regional cerebral oxygen saturation and ETCO2 in prediction of the return of spontaneous circulation and patients outcome after in-hospital cardiac arrest.
Cerebral oximetry measurement using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has been highlighted as a technology that can provide noninvasive information on regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2) during CPR even though its effectiveness has not been fully confirmed. The research focuses on the use of NIRS to predict the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and neurological outcomes. ⋯ The rSO2 value is a more sensitive indicator of ROSC compared to ETCO2. Higher rSO2 values are associated with a higher probability of achieving ROSC. The monitoring of rSO2 during CPR provides prognostic information.

Prevalence of cardiovascular comorbidities in psoriatic arthritis: relationship to clinical phenotype and treatment in a real-life study.
The relationship between the phenotype and treatment of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and the increased prevalence of cardiovascular comorbidities is not well studied. ⋯ The use of glucocorticoids and NSAIDs is associated with an increased prevalence of cardiovascular comorbidities in patients with PsA and should be avoided. Oligoarthritis and the current use of glucocorticosteroids are predictors of cardiovascular comorbidities. Hyperlipidemia remains underrecognized in patients with PsA within a real-world context.

Safety, efficacy and changing trends in endoscopic ablation for dysplastic Barrett's esophagus in Poland: a long-term multicenter retrospective analysis.
Endoscopic ablation is the mainstay treatment for dysplastic Barrett's esophagus (BE), of which radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and argon plasma coagulation (APC) are the most widely available options. ⋯ Endoscopic ablation for BE is safely and effectively provided in Poland within a few expert centers. Patients with diabetes and long-segment BE are at increased risk for treatment failure.

Changes in the epidemiological situation of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in Poland in 2018-2022.
The presented analysis was conducted against the background of the global pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war. The conflict on Poland's eastern border in particular raised concerns that the epidemiological situation in Poland would deteriorate due to the influx of immigrants from countries with a high incidence of MDR-TB and Beijing genotype. ⋯ The war in Ukraine caused a massive influx of immigrants to Poland, including many infected with MDR and Beijing strains. There is a real risk of an increase in the incidence of MDR-TB in Poland in the future and a risk of TB transmission between immigrants and the native population.
