Clinical Alarms in intensive care: implications of alarm fatigue for the safety of patients.
to identify the number of electro-medical pieces of equipment in a coronary care unit, characterize their types, and analyze implications for the safety of patients from the perspective of alarm fatigue. ⋯ the results reinforce the importance of properly configuring physiological variables, the volume and parameters of alarms of multi-parametric monitors within the routine of intensive care units. The alarms of equipment intended to protect patients have increased noise within the unit, the level of distraction and interruptions in the workflow, leading to a false sense of security.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyChlorhexidine and gauze and tape dressings for central venous catheters: a randomized clinical trial.
To assess the effectiveness of the chlorhexidine antimicrobial dressing in comparison to the gauze and tape dressing in the use of central venous catheters. ⋯ Both technologies are effective in covering central venous catheters in regard to the investigated variables and can be used for this purpose. Cross-cultural adaptation and clinical validation of the Neonatal Skin Condition Score to Brazilian Portuguese.
To describe the process of cross-cultural adaptation and clinical validation of the Neonatal Skin Condition Score. ⋯ The scale was adapted and validated to Brazilian Portuguese. The psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Neonatal Skin Condition Score instrument were similar to the validation results of the original scale.

Prevalence and intensity of chronic pain and self-perceived health among elderly people: a population-based study.
to identify the prevalence and intensity of chronic pain among elderly people of the community and to analyze associations with the self-perceived health status. ⋯ the majority of the elderly people of the community reported chronic pain, of a severe intensity, and located in areas related to movement activities, thus influencing the morbidity and mortality of this population.
