Randomized Controlled TrialReminiscence Therapy-Engaged Care Exhibits a Pleasing Effect on Attenuating Psychological Burden and Bolstering Quality of Life in Elderly Postoperative Cervical Cancer Patients with Anxiety or Depression.
Reminiscence therapy (RT) is an effective psychological intervention to address mental disorders in the elderly; however, it is insufficiently appraised in elderly postoperative cervical cancer patients complicated with anxiety or depression. Hence, this study aimed to explore the effect of RT-engaged care (RTEC) on this population. Totally, 112 elderly postoperative cervical cancer patients with anxiety or depression were enrolled in this single-center, randomized, controlled study, and randomized into RTEC group (N = 56) or usual care group (N = 56) for a 12-week intervention. ⋯ Both quality of life questionnaire Core 30 (QLQ-C30) global-health-status score and QLQ-C30 function score at W8 and W12 were elevated in RTEC group compared to usual care group (all P < 0.050). Whereas no difference was seen in QLQ-C30 symptom score at these timepoints between the two groups (all P > 0.050). In conclusion, RTEC alleviates psychological burden and improves QoL in elderly postoperative cervical cancer patients with anxiety or depression, while the effect in enhancing cognitive function is not obvious.

Randomized Controlled TrialExpression of CD4+T Cells in Myeloproliferative Diseases and the Effect of Ruxolitinib Treatment on Prognosis.
Myeloproliferative disorders (MPDs) are rare diseases in which the bone marrow produces too many red, white, or platelets. Myeloproliferative disorders are neither acute nor leukaemia. To study ruxolitinib's effect on MPD therapy and CD4+ T cell expression. ⋯ The study group had increased CD4 and CD4/CD8 levels, whereas the control group had lower CD8 and Treg levels. The study group had a greater 1-year survival rate than the control group, but the control group had lower mortality and adverse event rates. In JAK2V617F-positive MPD patients, ruxolitinib reduces JAK2V617F gene expression, myelofibrosis, and therapeutic impact.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffectiveness of Roy Adaptation Model-Based Cognitive Stimulation Therapy in Elderly Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Undergoing Curative Resection.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of a Roy adaptation model (RAM)-based cognitive stimulation therapy (CST) intervention on elderly patients diagnosed with primary non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) undergoing curative resection. A total of 280 patients diagnosed with primary NSCLC were randomized into RAM-based CST group and control group. Outcomes were assessed at three intervals: pre-surgery, discharge, and one-month post-discharge. ⋯ Additionally, the RAM-based CST group exhibited substantial enhancements in SF36 subcategory scores at 1-month post-discharge compared to pre-surgery. At post-intervention, the RAM-based CST group demonstrated significantly higher scores than the control group across various health-related domains, including role limitations due to emotional problems, mental health, general health perception, bodily pain, and role limitations due to physical problems. The RAM-based CST intervention in elderly NSCLC patients undergoing curative resection yielded significant enhancements in cognitive function, reduced delirium incidence, improved emotional well-being, and better QoL postoperatively.

Randomized Controlled TrialA Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timed (SMART) Nursing Project Reduces Anxiety, Depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Parents of Childhood or Adolescent Osteosarcoma Patients.
Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, timed (SMART) principle improves the nursing utility by setting individual goals for participants and helping them to achieve these goals. Our study intended to investigate the impact of a SMART nursing project on reducing mental stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in parents of childhood or adolescent osteosarcoma patients. In this randomized, controlled study, 66 childhood or adolescent osteosarcoma patients and 126 corresponding parents were enrolled and divided into SMART or normal care (NC) groups at a 1:1 ratio. ⋯ NC group. By subgroup analyses, the SMART nursing project showed better impacts on decreasing anxiety, depression, and PTSD in parents with an undergraduate education or above than in those with a high school education or less. Conclusively, SMART nursing project reduces anxiety, depression, and PTSD in parents of childhood or adolescent osteosarcoma patients, which is more effective in those with higher education.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparative Efficacy of Augmenting Escitalopram with Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy or High-Frequency Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Depressive Symptoms, Quality of Life, and Cognitive Function in Treatment-Resistant Depression.
Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) poses significant therapeutic challenges despite available interventions. Escitalopram (ESC) is a highly selective antidepressant. This study aimed to compare ESC alone and ESC combined with modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) or high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF-rTMS) in TRD patients. ⋯ The positive impact of ESC with HF-rTMS on cognitive function was evidenced by improvements in all domines MoCA. Combining ESC with MECT or HF-rTMS exhibited enhanced effectiveness in alleviating depressive symptoms and enhancing QoL compared to ESC monotherapy. Specifically, the ESC + HF-rTMS combination displayed potential as a comprehensive treatment strategy for TRD, addressing both emotional and cognitive aspects.
