Intrathecal cdk5 inhibitor, roscovitine, attenuates morphine antinociceptive tolerance in rats.
To investigate the effect of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) inhibitor roscovitine on the morphine antinociceptive tolerance development in rats. ⋯ Cdk5 modulation is involved in the antinociceptive tolerance of morphine. Intrathecal roscovitine administration could attenuate this tolerance development.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialAntioxidative effect of propofol during cardiopulmonary bypass in adults.
To investigate the antioxidative potential of propofol (an intravenous anesthetic with a chemical structure similar to phenol-based free radical scavengers such as vitamin E) during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). ⋯ Cardio-pulmonary bypass is associated with a great production of damaging free radicals. Propofol may be beneficial both as an anesthetic and as a potent free radical scavenger in patients presenting pathologies associated with free radical reactions during CPB.

Downregulation of Kv4.2 and Kv4.3 channel gene expression in right ventricular hypertrophy induced by monocrotaline in rat.
To investigate the differences in gene expression of transient outward potassium ion channel between the free wall of right ventricle, free wall of left ventricle, and the septum in monocrotaline (MCT)-induced right ventricular hypertrophy of rat. ⋯ Expression of Kv1.4, Kv4.2, and Kv4.3 differs between regions in normal rat hearts. The down-regulation of Kv4 family gene expression of Ito contributed to the pathophysiological changes in ventricular hypertrophy and pulmonary hypertension induced by MCT.

Therapeutic efficacy of charcoal hemoperfusion in patients with acute severe dichlorvos poisoning.
To assess the efficacy of hemoperfusion (HP) in the treatment of the patients with acute severe dichlorvos (DDVP) poisoning. ⋯ The rapid fall in blood DDVP level and the dramatic clinical response suggest that HP is effective in the treatment of acute severe DDVP poisoning.

Effects of ketamine, midazolam, thiopental, and propofol on brain ischemia injury in rat cerebral cortical slices.
To compare the effects of ketamine, midazolam, thiopental, and propofol on brain ischemia by the model of oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) in rat cerebral cortical slices. ⋯ Ketamine, high concentration of midazolam and thiopental have neuroprotective effects against OGD injury in rat cerebral cortical slices, while high concentration of propofol augments OGD injury in rat cerebral cortical slices.
