Face-to-face procedures have been postponed during COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to evaluate the impact of onabotulinumtoxinA follow-up delay in migraine during COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ Involuntary delay of onabotulinumtoxinA follow-up in patients with migraine due to COVID-19 pandemic was associated with a higher frequency of headache and migraine attacks. Safe administration of onabotulinumtoxinA during lockdown should be promoted.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of the first Italian COVID-19 lockdown on patients with chronic migraine (CM). ⋯ During the lockdown, approximately half of the patients had a clinical stability, a quarter an improvement, and another quarter a worsening. We identified different migraine-influencing elements; in particular, the remote working could represent an easy way to ameliorate migraineurs' life.

To compare the presence of allodynia, pain catastrophizing, and the impact of headaches on patients with cluster headache (CH) and healthy individuals. Our second aim was to analyze the relationship between catastrophism, psychological comorbidities, and the impact in CH. ⋯ Our findings reveal significant differences regarding allodynia, pain catastrophism, and impact in CH group compared with controls. We found a significant relationship between psychological comorbidity, pain catastrophism, and quality of life in CH patients. Anxiety and HIT-6 were a predictor (adjusted R2 = 52%) of pain catastrophism. Screening for these comorbidities should be implemented through a multidisciplinary approach.

Recent studies showed that the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and that platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) can be used as inflammatory markers in Bell's palsy. In this study, the aim is to investigate a novel inflammatory index, the Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII), defined as SII = platelets × neutrophils/lymphocytes, in Bell's palsy patients. ⋯ Bell's palsy has an inflammatory component. The SII value can indicate an inflammatory condition in these patients. It may be used as a marker and prognostic indicator in Bell's palsy.

Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is an established therapy for chronic neuropathic pain and most frequently utilised for Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS). BurstDR™ also known as DeRidder Burst-SCS, a novel waveform, has demonstrated superiority to conventional tonic stimulation of the thoracic spine in FBSS. There are case reports of an improvement in multidimensional pain outcomes using DeRidder Burst-SCS in the cervical spine for chronic neck and cervical radicular pain. The safety and efficacy of cervical DeRidder Burst-SCS stimulation still however remain undetermined. ⋯ The results of this feasibility study will validate the efficacy and safety of DeRidder Burst-SCS stimulation in the cervical spine. The results obtained in this study will potentially be used to generate a level 1 evidence-based study with formal statistical hypotheses testing.
