Individualized antidepressant therapy in patients with major depressive disorder: Novel evidence-informed decision support tool.
To introduce a visual clinical decision support tool to assist with individualizing first-line antidepressant pharmacotherapy for adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) in a Canadian context. ⋯ Recent studies on antidepressants have indicated no single antidepressant is superior to others in treating patients with MDD. This suggests there may be opportunities to enhance treatment adherence and success by tailoring antidepressant therapy to align with each patient's preferences. The Antidepressant Decision Support Tool was developed to help prescribers and adult patients engage in shared decision making to select an individualized and optimal first-line antidepressant for the treatment of acute MDD.

PEER umbrella systematic review of systematic reviews: Management of osteoarthritis in primary care.
To determine how many patients with chronic osteoarthritis pain respond to various non-surgical treatments. ⋯ Interventions that provide meaningful relief for chronic osteoarthritis pain might include exercise, intra-articular corticosteroids, SNRIs, oral and topical NSAIDs, glucosamine, chondroitin, viscosupplementation, and opioids. However, funding of studies and length of treatment are important considerations in interpreting these data.

Colorectal cancer screening for patients with a family history of colorectal cancer or adenomas.
To review and summarize the recently developed Canadian Association of Gastroenterology screening recommendations for patients with a family history of colorectal cancer (CRC) or adenoma from a family medicine perspective. ⋯ These guidelines acknowledge the many factors that can increase an individual's risk of developing CRC and allow for judgment to be employed depending on the clinical scenario. Lifestyle advice already given to patients for weight, blood pressure, and heart disease management will reduce the risk of CRC if implemented, and this combined with more targeted screening for higher-risk individuals will hopefully be successful in decreasing CRC mortality in Canada.
