Inconsistent role modeling of professionalism in family medicine residency: Resident perspectives from 2 Ontario sites.
To explore how family medicine (FM) residents experience role modeling of professionalism by FM preceptors. ⋯ Reassuringly, many FM residents described experiences with positive role modeling of professionalism. However, some residents believed that role modeling was limited by the brevity of their interactions with potential role models. To optimize the effect of role modeling, educators should support opportunities for residents to develop close, longitudinal working relationships with faculty.

Evaluating the implementation of collaborative teams in community family practice using the Primary Care Assessment Tool.
To examine patients' perceptions of care outcomes following the introduction of collaborative teams into community family practices. ⋯ This study found that WPCN provides high-quality primary care overall, but that patient-perceived outcomes do not indicate global improvement concurrent with team-based initiatives. Decreased standardization of the distributed model likely influenced study-observed variations in clinic performance. Future research should identify clinic and team characteristics that benefit most from team-based care and factors that explain solo practices outperforming models of team-based care.

Reasons for not completing postvasectomy semen analysis.
To identify noncompliance rates for 3-month postvasectomy semen analysis (PVSA) in men who have undergone vasectomy and to explore the self-reported reasons for not completing the 3-month PVSA. ⋯ Noncompliance rates for PVSA in this study were high. Three main reasons for noncompliance were identified that might help guide counseling opportunities in the future.

Implementing advanced access to primary care in an academic family medicine network: Participatory action research.
To support the implementation of the advanced access model in a network of family medicine academic settings, and to identify solutions to teaching advanced access to family medicine residents. ⋯ An academic-setting community of practice contributed to sharing solutions that were instrumental in broadly implementing the advanced access model and that also paved the way for the integration of advanced access for future family physicians, further supporting timely access to primary care.

Patient perspectives on routinely being asked about their race and ethnicity: Qualitative study in primary care.
To understand patients' perspectives on responding to a question about their race and ethnicity in a primary care setting. ⋯ Patients attending a primary care clinic were not uncomfortable responding to a question about race and ethnicity. However, patients had different interpretations of what was being asked. Future research should explore perspectives of patients in other primary care settings and test different methods for collecting data about their race and ethnicity.
