Palliative Medicine Fellows' Discussions, Perceptions, and Training Regarding Medical Cannabis.
Medical cannabis is increasingly considered for palliation of pain, nausea/vomiting, anorexia, and other symptoms. ⋯ Most HPM fellows report formal training in the use of medical cannabis. Over half of trainees reported discussing medical cannabis with patients, but few considered themselves sufficiently informed to make cannabis-related clinical recommendations. These results suggest both a need for expanded high-quality evidence for medical cannabis in palliative care and for improved formal education for HPM fellows.

ReviewCriteria for Enrollment of Patients with COPD in Palliative Care Trials: A Systematic Review.
Use of palliative care interventions in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has increased in recent years and inclusion criteria used to identify patients with COPD appropriate for palliative care vary widely. We evaluated the inclusion criteria to identify ways to improve enrollment opportunities for patients with COPD. ⋯ CRD42022306752.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common form of acute leukemia in adults. Rapidly proliferating leukemic cells cause symptoms and increase the risk of infection. ⋯ However, emerging evidence demonstrates that early palliative care (PC) integration with standard leukemia care results in improved quality of life, psychological outcomes, and greater participation in advance care planning. To orient PC clinicians asked to care for patients with AML, this article highlights 10 salient considerations.

This study aims to investigate the effect of an educational intervention on cancer patients receiving palliative care and their caregivers concerning symptom management and family needs. ⋯ The educational intervention positively impacted symptom management and family needs. Optimizing symptom control would greatly benefit palliative care patients and their caregivers.
