Analgesic effect of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve block to the pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block in primary total hip arthroplasty: a randomized clinical trial.
Adequate hip joint and surgical incision analgesia represent a challenge in the postoperative period of primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). This study aimed to evaluate whether the combination of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve block (LFCN block) and the pericapsular nerve group block (PENG block) influences postoperative analgesia and rescue opioids, in primary THA surgeries. ⋯ The combination of the LFCN block and the PENG block, compared to the sole PENG block, results in better analgesia at rest and on movement up to 24 h and a reduction in the total consumption of opioids up to 48 h after THA.

Ultrasound-guided bilateral erector spinae plane block in the management of postoperative analgesia in living liver donors: a randomized, prospective study.
Living donor hepatectomy is a procedure associated with notable postoperative pain, impacting patient recovery and satisfaction. Addressing this challenge, we aimed to examine the effect of ultrasound-guided bilateral erector spinae plane block (ESPB) in postoperative analgesia management of patients undergoing living donor hepatectomy for liver transplantation. ⋯ ESPB displayed promise in effectively managing post-living donor hepatectomy pain, resulting in decreased opioid consumption, improved pain relief, and reduced rescue analgesia requirements. This technique holds potential to enhance recovery and patient satisfaction following donor hepatectomy.

Critically ill children undergo painful procedures during resuscitation and stabilization before and during interfacility transport. The literature supporting pain management in this unique environment focuses predominantly on isolated traumatic injuries. Timely administration of analgesia can improve patient well-being by attenuating stress responses and reducing severe adverse events. To determine the prevalence of analgesia administration among pediatric patients undergoing mechanical ventilation during transport and to identify associated factors. ⋯ This study's findings highlight the need for improved pain evaluation in caring for mechanically ventilated pediatric patients during transport. Factors such as transport, duration, the reason for transport, pre-transport opiate or ketamine administration, and paralytics increase the likelihood of analgesia administration. At the same time, the presence of comorbidities decreases the likelihood. The study underscores the importance of improved documentation of pain to inform analgesic choices and administration with the ultimate goal of reducing adverse events.

Observational StudyUltrasound estimates of the epidural depth in the paramedian sagittal oblique and transverse median planes: the correlation between estimated and actual depth to the epidural space in children with scoliosis.
The present study aimed to compare the correlation and agreement of epidural depth estimation using ultrasound in the paramedian sagittal oblique (PSO) versus the transverse median (TM) plane relative to the actual epidural depth observed during midline epidural punctures in children with scoliosis. ⋯ The PSO view can be a reliable guide to facilitate epidural puncture in children with scoliosis with better visualization.
