Gestalt clinical severity score (GCSS) as a predictor of patient severity of illness or injury.
To determine if clinical judgement is accurate to predict the severity of injury or illness, and can be used at patient arrival when other formal scoring systems are not yet available. ⋯ Physicians can make accurate predictions of severity of injury and illness using a gestalt method and the scoring system we have developed as patient disposition correlates well with GCSS score. GCSS is most accurate with the 18-44 age group.

The Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) and Comorbidity Polypharmacy Score (CPS) may potentially risk-stratify older trauma patients more accurately than traditional trauma severity scores. We aim to evaluate if CCI or CPS are better predictors of mortality and discharge venue in such patients. ⋯ CCI, but not CPS, was a predictor of mortality. A higher CCI was associated with decreased odds of discharge to a subacute facility, likely related to underlying rehabilitation potential. Further studies should be undertaken to explore an integrated scoring system that considers injury severity, comorbidities, and polypharmacy.

Road Traffic Accidents among Patients Visiting Department of Emergency of a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Road Traffic Accidents, are one of the major neglected global health burdens which are predicted to be the 7th leading cause of global deaths by 2030 as per the World Health Organization hence, seem to be one of the major global threats in near future. Most road traffic accidents affect the most vulnerable age groups in developing countries. The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence of road traffic accidents among patients visiting the Department of Emergency of a tertiary care centre. ⋯ emergencies; prevalence; traffic accidents.

Emergency medical service utilization and timely treatment among acute ischemic stroke patients in Beijing from 2018 to 2021.
Activation of emergency medical services (EMS) is recommended for timely reperfusion therapy for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The association of EMS utilization and time intervals from hospital arrival to a series of necessary procedures before reperfusion therapy was rarely investigated. ⋯ In this observational study, the use of EMS for patient with AIS was associated with a shorter time from hospital arrival to intravenous thrombolysis and endovascular therapy.
