Chest computed tomography (CT) can be used to monitor the course of the disease or response to therapy. Therefore, our study was designed to identify chest CT manifestations that can predict the outcome of patients on short term follow-up. This was a retrospective study wherein we reviewed chest CT scans of 112 real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction positive patients admitted to our hospital. ⋯ The significant factors for fatality were diffuse crazy paving, pleural effusion, and extra-thoracic complications (P = .033, .029, and .007, respectively). The prognostic value of the first admission CT can help assess disease outcomes in the earliest phases of onset. This can improve resource distribution.

Network meta-analyses (NMAs) are statistical techniques used to synthesize data from multiple studies and compare the effectiveness of different interventions for a particular disease or condition. They have gained popularity in recent years as a tool for evidence-based decision making in healthcare. Whether publications in NMAs have an increasing trend is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the trends in the number of NMA articles over the past 10 years when compared to non-NMA articles. ⋯ It is evident that the number of NMA articles increased rapidly between 2013 and 2019 before leveling off in the years following. For researchers, policymakers, and healthcare professionals who are interested in evidence-based decision making, the visualizations used in this study may be useful.

Recurrent intestinal ulcer with bloody stool for >10 years in an adolescent boy of 15 years: A case report.
Infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases and vascular diseases can lead to intestinal ulcers, and inflammatory bowel disease is typically suspected as the underlying cause of ulcer and bleeding from the intestinal ulcers leading to bloody stool, and malnutrition. Here we report a rare case of successfully treated case of intestinal ulcer, bloody stool, and malnutrition by dietary modification and avoidance of long term barbecued spicy food and carbonated drinks. ⋯ Pay attention to healthy diet in life and avoid long-term consumption of spicy food and carbonated drinks.

Malignant melanoma (MM) is notorious for its remarkable morphological variation and aberrant histopathological patterns. In addition, Malignant Periopheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST) is an uncommon but aggressive soft tissue sarcoma. Because of the common embryological origin of melanocytes and Schwann cells in the neural crest, discriminating between a particular type of MM and MPNST can be difficult, particularly when they are amelanotic. Our goal is to increase awareness among clinicians of the rare variations of MM and the importance of medical history in improving the accuracy of the final clinical diagnosis. ⋯ Clinical data, immunohistochemisty biomarkers and genes detection results can serve as valuable evidence for pathologists and clinicians in identifying the disease process. Collaborative efforts between clinicians and scientists are crucial in order to identify specific markers that can effectively differentiate between the 2 tumors, thereby enhancing the conclusiveness of the diagnosis.

Observational StudyRelationship of vitamin D deficiency to cardiovascular disease and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: The Silesia Diabetes-Heart Project.
Vitamin D (VD) has a pleiotropic effect on many health‑related aspects, yet the results of studies regarding vitamin D deficiency (VDD) and both glycemic control and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are conflicting. ⋯ About one‑third of the patients showed VDD. The VDD and VDS groups did not differ in terms of CVD occurrence and the difference in glycemic control was insignificant. The patients with VDD were more often treated with SGLT‑2is, which requires further investigation.
