Globally, low back pain (LBP) is now the leading cause of disability. Patients often have lumbar spine motion dysfunction (motion decrease/increase), and this may affect the lumbar lordosis (LL). Though the relationship between LL and LBP is controversial, it has immense clinical significance, because it serves as the basis of therapeutic exercises for treating and preventing LBP. An angular measure of LL that consistently detects even a small lordotic change (LC) would be considered reliable. ⋯ LSJA is a reliable measure of lumbar LC in physical therapy of LBP, especially, the non-specific LBP disorders.

The clinical course of acute low back pain (LBP) is generally favourable; however, there is significant variability in the prognosis of these patients. A clinical prediction model to predict the likelihood of pain recovery at three time points for patients with acute LBP has recently been developed. The aim of this study is to conduct a broad validation test of this clinical prediction model, by testing its performance in a new sample of patients and a different setting. ⋯ Ethics were granted by the Research Ethics Committee of the Universidade Cidade de São Paulo, #20310419.4.0000.0064. Study findings will be disseminated widely through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy of Electronic Acupuncture Shoes for Chronic Low Back Pain: Double-Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial.
Chronic low back pain is a common problem and is associated with high costs, including those related to health care and indirect costs due to absence at work or reduced productivity. Previous studies have demonstrated that acupuncture or electroacupuncture can relieve low back pain. Electronic acupuncture shoes (EAS) are a novel device designed in this study. This device combines the properties of acupuncture and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation for clinical use. ⋯ EAS might serve as a reliable alternative therapeutic tool for patients with chronic low back pain who are contraindicated for oral NSAIDs.

Low back pain is a common clinical chronic disease with symptoms of back soreness, numbness, and pain. The incidence of low back pain is high, and gradually increases with age. It is mainly middle-aged and has a high recurrence rate. It is considered to be one of the common diseases with the highest disability rate. The aim of this systematic review is to assess the effectiveness and safety of moxibustion therapy for low back pain. ⋯ The conclusions of our study will provide an evidence to judge whether moxibustion is an effective and safe intervention for patients with low back pain.

Are clinical practice guidelines for low back pain interventions of high quality and updated? A systematic review using the AGREE II instrument.
Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) provide recommendations for practice, but the proliferation of CPGs issued by multiple organisations in recent years has raised concern about their quality. The aim of this study was to systematically appraise CPGs quality for low back pain (LBP) interventions and to explore inter-rater reliability (IRR) between quality appraisers. The time between systematic review search and publication of CPGs was recorded. ⋯ 1 TRIAL REGISTRATION: REGISTRATION PROSPERO DETAILS: CRD42019127619 .
