Acupuncture for pain relief of women undergoing transvaginal oocyte retrieval: A meta analysis and systematic review protocol.
Pain during oocyte retrieval, which can make the in-vitro fertilization process an unpleasant experience, is becoming a common problem. Although there are many analgesic methods available in the clinical setting, they are not therapeutically equivalent, and some are associated with varying adverse reactions. In recent years, acupuncture analgesia has been used in the perioperative period of oocyte retrieval because of its perceived efficacy and safety. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to provide evidence that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of vaginal oocyte retrieval pain. ⋯ CRD42020170095.

Observational StudyDisparities in Acute Pain Treatment by Cognitive Status in Older Adults with Hip Fracture.
We examined the disparities in emergency department (ED) pain treatment based on cognitive status in older adults with an acute hip fracture. ⋯ Among older adults presenting to the ED with acute hip fracture, cognitive impairment was independently associated with lower likelihood of receiving analgesia and lower amount of opioid analgesia.

Childbirth is a complex and special physiological process. Pain often accompanies the whole process of delivery. Long term pain will affect the physiological and psychological of pregnant women, and severe pain will affect the delivery process and the life of maternal and fetal. There are 2 ways to relieve delivery pain: drug analgesia and nonpharmacological analgesia. Nonpharmacological analgesia has less effect on the fetus than drug analgesia and is currently a more popular method for labor analgesia. Due to the lack of randomized trials comparing the efficacy of various nonpharmacological analgesia, it is still difficult to judge the relative efficacy. Therefore, we intend to conduct a network meta-analysis to evaluate the benefit among these nonpharmacological analgesia. ⋯ Our findings will provide references for future guidance developing and clinical decision.INPLASY registration number: INPLASY202080097.

Sustained Long-Term Outcomes With Closed-Loop Spinal Cord Stimulation: 12-Month Results of the Prospective, Multicenter, Open-Label Avalon Study.
Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) activates the dorsal column fibers using electrical stimuli. Current SCS systems function in fixed-output mode, delivering the same stimulus regardless of spinal cord (SC) activation. ⋯ The majority of patients experienced more than 80% pain relief with stable SC activation, as measured by ECAP amplitude at 12 mo, providing evidence for the long-term effectiveness of the Evoke closed-loop SCS system.

Femoral nerve block versus obturator nerve block for pain management after total knee replacement: A randomized controlled trial protocol.
Several studies reported short-term analgesic efficacy of obturator nerve block (ONB), as in comparison with the femoral nerve block (FNB) in the treatment of postoperative pain after the total knee replacement (TKR). The optimal method remains under debate. The purpose of our current work is to compare the safety and efficacy of FNB and ONB for postoperative analgesia after TKR. ⋯ This trial would provide an evidence for the use of different types of peripheral nerve blocks in TKR.
