Patient satisfaction is used to measure physician performance in hospital and governmental practice settings. There is limited understanding about factors affecting satisfaction in a chronic pain management setting for patients prescribed chronic opioids. ⋯ These results indicate that a patient's perception of a provider's engagement and concern more heavily impacts perceived satisfaction than the patient's progress. A patient's perception of his or her clinic experience is heavily influenced by the attentiveness and coordination of the entire clinic care team. Staff attentiveness and coordination may affect a patient's level of stress. Adherence to current opioid prescription guidelines did not appear to have an overall negative effect on patient satisfaction.

Randomized Controlled TrialInjection Volume and Anesthetic Effect in Serratus Plane Block.
Serratus plane block is performed for analgesia of the anterior chest wall. However, there has been no study concerning the appropriate volume for this block. This prospective randomized controlled study assesses the dermatomal spread and analgesic effects of serratus plane block. ⋯ UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (identifier UMIN000016549).

The contribution of neuropathic pain (NeP) in chronic pain conditions is increasingly emphasized with the development of multiple questionnaire-based measurement scales. The painDETECT questionnaire (PDQ) is a frequently used self-reported outcome measure to assess NeP in patients with chronic pain conditions in research and regular clinical practice. The aim of the study was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the PDQ into Hindi (Hi-PDQ) for use in India and to investigate its psychometric properties. ⋯ The PDQ was successfully translated into the Hindi language. The Hi-PDQ showed good discriminative validity and psychometric properties. The Hi-PDQ is a reliable instrument to assess NeP in chronic pain conditions.

Comparative StudyPROMIS Pain Interference and Physical Function Scores Correlate With the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) in Patients With Hallux Valgus.
Traditional patient-reported outcome instruments like the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) quantify patient disability but often are limited by responder burden and incomplete questionnaires. The Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System (PROMIS) overcomes such obstacles through computer-adaptive technology and can capture outcome data from various domains including physical and psychosocial function. Prior work has compared the FAAM with PROMIS physical function; however, there is little evidence comparing the association between foot and ankle-specific tools like the FAAM with more general outcomes measures of PROMIS pain interference and depression in foot and ankle conditions. ⋯ The relationships shown here between PROMIS and FAAM scores further support the use of PROMIS tools in outcomes-based research. In patients with hallux valgus, pain-related disability appears to be a central feature of the patient-experience. Future studies should assess the association of various outcome domains on other common foot and ankle diagnoses.
