Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of adductor canal block for analgesia in arthroscopic surgery with ropivacaine alone and ropivacaine and clonidine].
Inadequate pain relief after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction affects mobility leading to development of adhesions, weakened ligament insertion and muscle atrophy. Adductor canal block for postoperative analgesia preserves quadriceps strength. The present study was conducted to compare pain free period in patients undergoing arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, receiving ultrasound-guided adductor canal block with ropivacaine alone and ropivacaine with clonidine. ⋯ Addition of clonidine to ropivacaine in USG guided adductor canal block led to significant prolongation of pain free period though pain score at rest and movement, and rescue analgesic requirement, did not differ.

Comparison of the effects of modified pectoral nerve block and erector spinae plane block on postoperative opioid consumption and pain scores of patients after radical mastectomy surgery: A prospective, randomized, controlled trial.
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy of women all over the world. In this study, we compared the effects of ultrasound-guided modified pectoral nerve (PECS) block and erector spinae plane (ESP) block on postoperative opioid consumption, pain scores, and intraoperative fentanyl need of patients undergoing unilateral modified radical mastectomy surgery. ⋯ Modified PECS block reduced postoperative tramadol consumption and pain scores more effectively than ESP block after radical mastectomy surgery.

Randomized Controlled TrialAddition of Adductor Canal Block to Periarticular Injection for Total Knee Replacement: A Randomized Trial.
Periarticular injection is a popular method to control postoperative pain after total knee replacement. An adductor canal block is a sensory block that can also help to alleviate pain after total knee replacement. We hypothesized that the combination of adductor canal block and periarticular injection would allow patients to reach discharge criteria 0.5 day faster than with periarticular injection alone. ⋯ Therapeutic Level I. Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyDiaphragm-sparing effect of the infraclavicular subomohyoid block vs low volume interscalene block. A randomized blinded study.
Both low volume interscalene and infraclavicular-subomohyoid blocks were suggested to provide shoulder analgesia with low risk of phrenic nerve block. The aim of this study was to compare the frequency of the phrenic nerve block between these two techniques. ⋯ Compared with the low volume interscalene block, the infraclavicular subomohyoid block resulted in a significantly less frequent phrenic nerve block and with no difference in postoperative analgesia. Therefore, it may be relevant to consider for patients who cannot tolerate a phrenic nerve block.

An adductor canal block (ACB) provides recognized analgesia following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This meta-analysis compared the single-injection ACB (SACB) with the continuous-injection ACB (CACB). ⋯ The SACB technique provides similar analgesia in the 24 hours following TKA compared with CACB, while the CACB method was better over 48 hours.
