V-Y Tendon Plasty for Reconstruction of Chronic Achilles Tendon Rupture: A Medium-term and Long-term Follow-up.
To evaluate the surgical results of V-Y tendon plasty in the treatment of chronic Achilles tendon rupture during medium and long-term follow-up. ⋯ V-Y tendon plasty can be used in most cases of chronic Achilles tendon rupture. It yields satisfactory functional results and low complication rates. The advantage of this procedure is that it is an easy and economic method without the need for expensive synthetic implants. V-Y tendon plasty should be considered an acceptable first-choice treatment.

Comparative StudyImpact of chronic hypertension on time to goal mean arterial pressure and clinical outcomes in critically ill patients with septic shock requiring vasopressors.
Mean arterial pressure (MAP) reflects the adequacy of tissue perfusion. In septic shock, vasopressors are recommended to target MAP ≥65 mmHg. The impact of chronic hypertension (HTN) on MAP achievement and outcomes are uncertain. ⋯ Patients with HTN achieved goal MAP more rapidly but had higher odds of mortality.

To determine the effectiveness of basal membranotomy performed to ensure cerebral expansion in patients operated for chronic subdural hematoma. ⋯ The mini craniotomy-basal membranotomy technique provided statistically significantly better cerebral expansion in patients with chronic subdural hematoma when compared with the double burr hole drainage technique.

To assess the durability of treatment over various chronic pain conditions of an emerging, nonprescription electromagnetic neuromodulation device that uses pulsed shortwave therapy. ⋯ Ninety-seven percent of the recruited subjects, all of whom had previously reported clinically significant pain relief using the 7-day PSWT device, sustained this relief for 6 months by using the device on an as-needed basis.
