Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Multicenter, randomized, double-blind, controlled trial of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation for pancreatic cancer related pain.
Up to 80% of patients with pancreatic cancer experience abdominal and back pain. Although pharmacologic medications provide some relief, many report inadequate analgesia and adverse effects. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a non-invasive physical modality and had been widely applied for pain relieving, yet no study has investigated the effectiveness of TENS for pain in pancreatic cancer. ⋯ This study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT03331055.

The effect of oral low molecular weight liquid hyaluronic acid combination with glucosamine and chondroitin on knee osteoarthritis patients with mild knee pain: An 8-week randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial.
The popularity of dietary supplements for knee osteoarthritis (OA) management is on the rise; however, their effects are still debated. ⋯ Oral administration of low molecular weight liquid HA appeared to be effective for knee OA patients with mild knee pain (VAS ≤ 3) in the relief of knee OA symptoms, particularly in pain and physical function.Clinical Trial Registration: NCT04352322.

Effect of traditional Chinese manipulation on ankle sprains: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese manipulation in treating ankle sprains. ⋯ Traditional Chinese manipulation might have a better effect on ankle sprains than other types of conservative treatment. The rotating-traction-poking manipulation might achieve better effects than other manipulation techniques in terms of alleviating pain intensity. However, considering the overall high or unclear risk of bias, the evidence identified does not allow for a robust conclusion concerning the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese manipulation for treating ankle sprains. High-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

With the development of social economy, people's lives are improving day by day. Chronic diseases represented by diabetes have gradually entered people's field of vision. At present, about 415 million people in the world suffer from diabetes, of which more than 90% are Type 2 diabetic mellitus (T2DM), which causes severe physical and mental pain to patients and their families, and also imposes a huge burden on the health care system. Animal experiments and clinical studies both show that Gegen Qinlian Decoction (GQD) cannot only reduce the blood glucose of T2DM, but also improve the islet function of patients, reduce the insulin resistance index and insulin secretion index, and have no adverse reactions. Therefore, we designed this protocol to evaluate the effect of GQD on clinical Prognosis and islet function for T2DM. ⋯ INPLASY2020110083.

Presentation of musculoskeletal symptoms, such as pain, discomfort, or disability, caused by a traffic accident (TA) is a common occurrence. However, studies on treatment and management of sudden low back pain (LBP) caused by a TA are very scarce, while studies on the effectiveness of motion style acupuncture therapy (MSAT) used on such patients are also rare. Accordingly, a randomized controlled trial (RCT) is planned to assess the effectiveness and safety of MSAT using traction (T-MSAT) for the treatment of pain and functional problems in patients with acute LBP caused by a TA. ⋯ This study is a RCT to assess the effectiveness and safety of T-MSAT for acute LBP caused by a TA. The findings could be used by healthcare-related policy makers and clinicians in primary care institutions, which are frequently visited by patients suffering from LBP caused by a TA.
