Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common disabling condition and a heavy financial burden to the society. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is considered to be an effective method in the repair and regeneration of cartilage and alleviate pain in KOA. But the utilising of PRP to treat KOA in clinical has shown variable results from many studies. The objective of this protocol is to determine the efficacy of PRP in pain control and cartilage repair in KOA animal models. ⋯ CRD42020181589.

Arthrocentesis is the simplest surgical intervention for the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). It can be performed on an outpatient basis at a low cost and with low morbidity. The objective is to release the articular disc by disrupting the adhesion formed between its surfaces and the mandibular fossa through hydraulic pressure generated by irrigation of the upper compartment of the TMJ. Viscosupplementation with hyaluronic acid during or after arthrocentesis improves clinical outcomes, increases mouth opening, and reduces pain levels. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of arthrocentesis plus hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation through clinical examination and preoperative magnetic resonance imaging in patients with unilateral disc displacement without reduction (DDwoR). ⋯ Patients with DDwoR undergoing arthrocentesis combined with hyaluronic acid injection showed significant improvement in the perceived pain and maximum mouth opening in the mid-term follow-up periods.

Combined use of Risdon Wiring and Lingual Splint in Pediatric Mandibular Fractures.
To implement and evaluate a simplified, rapid, single-day emergency management technique for pediatric mandibular fractures, the author applied the current technique of using combined lingual splint with Risdon wiring under sedation anesthesia as a cohort study in a group of pre-school mandibular fracture children aged 4 to 6 years. Clinical outcome variables were fixation length and reduction simplicity, post-reduction occlusion, recovery of mouth opening, and degree of postoperative edema and pain. Age, gender, fracture site and the cause of injury were other study variables. ⋯ The clinical results obtained from the combined technique were promising in terms of rapid surgical duration, simplicity of fracture reduction, decreased postoperative pain and edema, rapid recovery of mouth opening without a recorded complication. It could be concluded that combining Risdon wiring with lingual splint is a simple, fast, and reliable fixation technique for managing pre-school mandibular pediatric fractures.
