Polysaccharides obtained from mycelia of Cordyceps militaris attenuated doxorubicin-induced cytotoxic effects in chemotherapy.
Fungus Cordyceps militaris has been used as a herbal tonic in traditional Chinese medicine, which could be surface liquid-cultured for mycelia production. To evaluate the potential of polysaccharides obtained from mycelia of Cordyceps militaris (PS-MCM) for attenuation of side-effects of chemotherapy. ⋯ These findings indicate that PS-MCM has potential for development as a functional food to counteract side effects of chemotherapy.

Case ReportsRectus sheath hematoma and retroperitoneal bleeding due to rivaroxaban: a case report.
Rivaroxaban is one of the new anti-coagulants that inhibit Factor Xa and rarely cause rectus sheath hematoma and retroperitoneal haemorrhage which are uncommon, life-threatening complications. Here is a case of an elderly patient on rivaroxaban therapy for the stroke prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation who developed rectus sheath hematoma and retroperitoneal bleeding.

Meta AnalysisIL-18 polymorphisms and tuberculosis susceptibility: a meta-analysis.
To investigate the association between IL-18 polymorphisms and Tuberculosis(TB). ⋯ The present meta-analysis found no evidence for IL-18 -607C>A and -137G>C polymorphisms as risk factors for TB. Further large-scale and well-designed articles are still needed to validate this result.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of effects of propofol and ketofol (Ketamine-Propofol mixture) on emergence agitation in children undergoing tonsillectomy.
The aim of this study was to compare the effect of propofol and ketofol (ketamine-propofol mixture) on EA in children undergoing tonsillectomy. ⋯ Infusion of ketofol in children undergoing tonsillectomy provides shorter recovery time and lower incidence of EA despite the non significant difference with propofol.

However, there is continuing research into the treatment of leishmaniasis and potentially vaccinations for the disease.
