Inherited antithrombin deficiency caused by a mutation in the SERPINC1 gene: A case report.
Inherited antithrombin deficiency (ATD) is a major cause of thrombotic deficiency. Genetic testing is of great value in the diagnosis of hereditary thrombophilia. Herein, we report a case of inherited ATD admitted to our hospital. We include the results of genealogy and discuss the significance of genetic testing in high-risk groups of hereditary thrombophilia. ⋯ By this report we highlight that gene detection and phenotypic analysis are important means to study inherited ATD.

The oxidant/antioxidant status balance is a process that begins before birth and premature infants are particularly susceptible to oxidative stress. According to the mechanisms of oxidative stress and lack of study in this field, in this prospective study, we aimed to compare the levels of serum pro-oxidant/antioxidant balance (PAB) in preterm versus term babies. This was a prospective cross-sectional study that was performed in Ghaem hospital, a university tertiary hospital, in Mashhad, Iran. ⋯ Serum PAB level was significantly lower in preterm neonates rather than in term neonates (21.86 ± 21.01 vs 50.33 ± 31.69; P = .001). There was also a significant negative correlation between PAB levels and gestational age. According to previous investigations, we showed for the first time in our study that PAB is lower in preterm newborns rather than in term ones.

Laparoscopic triple-ureteral ureteroureterostomy in a patient with ureteral triplication: A case report.
Ureteral triplication (UT) is a very rare disorder, with a challenging diagnosis and varied therapeutic methods. In the past, the treatment usually involved heminephrureterectomy of the stunted moiety. Here, we reported a case of complete UT that was treated by laparoscopic triple-ureteral ureteroureterostomy (UU). ⋯ Laparoscopic triple-ureteral UU was successful in our patient. For children with duplex kidney and multiple ureteral duplications, minimally invasive urinary tract reconstruction can be a suitable intervention.

This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) perfusion magnetic resonance imaging and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) for differentiating common posterior fossa tumors, pilocytic astrocytoma (PA), medulloblastoma (MB), and hemangioblastoma (HB). Between January 2016 and April 2022, we enrolled 23 (median age, 7 years [range, 2-26]; 12 female), 13 (10 years [1-24]; 3 female), and 12 (43 years [23-73]; 7 female) patients with PA, MB, and HB, respectively. ⋯ DSC parameters and nADCmean were significantly different between PA, MB, and HB. An algorithmic approach combining nrCBV and nADCmean may be useful for differentiating these tumor types.

Diagnostic performance of mono-exponential DWI versus diffusion kurtosis imaging in breast lesions: A meta-analysis.
This meta-analysis aimed to explore the diagnostic value of diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) compared to mono-exponential diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) in the diagnosis of breast cancer. ⋯ Although DKI is feasible for identifying breast cancer, MD and MK offer similar diagnostic performance to ADC values. Thus, we recommend that DKI should not be included in the routine evaluation of breast lesions now.
