Observational Study
The clinical significance of pyogenic liver abscess after transarterial chemoembolization or microwave ablation on malignant liver tumors: A retrospective study.
Pyogenic liver abscess (PLA) is a rare but severe complication of interventional therapy that has been little studied. We aimed to find the risk factors for PLA after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) or microwave ablation (MWA), further explore its clinical significance and summarize our experience with its treatment. Twenty-two patients with PLA and 118 randomly selected patients without PLA after TACE/MWA were enrolled. ⋯ Timely drainage and appropriate antibiotics are the key primary measures for treating PLA. Cefoperazone sodium and sulbactam sodium or piperacillin sodium and tazobactam sodium is a good choice for the first treatment of PLA, especially before pathogenic bacteria are identified. With the emergence of drug resistance, imipenem and cilastatin sodium, and tigecycline can be used for posterior treatment.

To assess deep learning models for personalized chemotherapy selection and quantify the impact of baseline characteristics on treatment efficacy for elderly head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients who are not surgery candidates. A comparison was made between patients whose treatments aligned with model recommendations and those whose did not, using overall survival as the primary metric. Bias was addressed through inverse probability treatment weighting (IPTW), and the impact of patient characteristics on treatment choice was analyzed via mixed-effects regression. ⋯ No survival benefit for chemoradiotherapy was seen for patients not recommended to receive this treatment. Self-Normalizing Balanced individual treatment effect for survival data model effectively identifies elderly HNSCC patients who could benefit from chemoradiotherapy, offering personalized survival predictions and treatment recommendations. The practical application will become a reality with further validation in clinical settings.

The different variants of renal angiomyolipoma pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in clinical practice. We report a rare case of renal solid-cystic angiomyolipoma, with the aim of offering new insights into the preoperative imaging assessment of renal masses. ⋯ Renal angiomyolipoma is usually easily distinguishable on imaging, but this case aims to alert clinicians to differentiate the rare variants of renal angiomyolipoma from other renal tumors. In the future, more cases are needed to summarize the characteristics of different variants of renal angiomyolipoma.

Case Reports
Diagnosis of a large cystic teratoma of accessory ovary complicated with torsion by ultrasound: A case report.
An accessory ovary complicated by cystic teratoma and torsion is extremely rare and requires prompt diagnosis and surgical treatment. However, evidence for effective preoperative imaging diagnosis has barely been reported. Our study presented a case in which preoperative ultrasound reasonably suspected ovarian tumor torsion and an accessory ovary, and laparoscopic surgery was strategically performed. ⋯ Clinical manifestations of accessory ovarian tumors combined with torsion are similar to those of eutopic ovarian torsion, and timely surgery is required.

Persistent sciatic artery (PSA) is a rare congenital vascular anomaly. The sciatic artery, which normally regresses to become the inferior gluteal artery during fetal development, persists as a direct branch of the internal iliac artery. ⋯ When performing an ultrasound examination of PSA, careful identification of the arterial anatomy, evaluation of blood flow, assessment of surrounding structures, comparison between sides, and correlation with clinical symptoms are crucial to accurately diagnose this rare vascular anomaly.
