Patients with gastric cancer show a relatively low incidence of developing secondary myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). ⋯ Acute MDS is an unusual adverse effect induced by OXP plus CAP chemotherapy. It is urgent to suggest implementing a supplementary assessment or examination for patients receiving these therapies in future cases.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an immune-mediated inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract that includes Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis (UC). Although IBD is associated with elevated levels of innate and adaptive immunity, the relationship between circulating immune cells and IBD remains largely unknown. Therefore, we conducted a bidirectional 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study to determine their causal relationship. ⋯ MR analysis of the above 4 immune cell phenotypes revealed no horizontal pleiotropy. In the reverse MR analysis, Crohn disease was not causally associated with any of these immune cell phenotypes. The findings provide insight into the relationship between immune cells and IBD pathogenesis, and may serve as a basis for developing novel immunotherapies.

While observational studies suggest a connection between skipping breakfast and myocardial infarction (MI), the causal nature of this relationship is unclear. This study aims to investigate the genetic causal relationships between breakfast skipping and MI through Mendelian randomization (MR). Employing genetic data from a public genome-wide association study, this research focuses on genetic variations linked to breakfast skipping and MI. ⋯ The study discovered a notable association between breakfast skipping and an increased risk of MI (odds ratios: 1.34, 95% confidence intervals: 1.03-1.76, P = .027). The test revealed no heterogeneity or multiplicity, and the sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of the results. Our MR analysis suggests that habitual breakfast skipping might elevate the likelihood of MI, underlining the importance of regular breakfast consumption in potentially mitigating heart attack risks.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has emerged as an effective treatment or adjunct therapy for various disorders, prioritizing improving oxygen delivery to tissues. This qualitative inquiry aims to explore the psychological experiences of patients undergoing their first hyperbaric session, focusing on the emotional responses and information needs of patients. The study addresses the gap in understanding patient experiences and seeks to contribute to holistic care approaches and improved health outcomes for patients undergoing HBOT. ⋯ The findings revealed the importance of comprehensive patient education and effective communication by healthcare providers to alleviate initial fears and improve treatment experiences for HBOT patients. Future research should expand to other regions and include healthcare providers' perspectives to further validate these findings and enhance HBOT practices. Integrating psychological support into the treatment process may also benefit patients, promoting holistic care and improving overall health outcomes.

Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis (PCI) is a rare condition characterized by multiple gas-filled cysts in the gastrointestinal tract and is associated with numerous conditions. Benign PCI can occur secondary to certain medications, such as anticancer-targeted therapies. Here, we report a rare case of PCI that developed following sunitinib therapy for metastatic RCC and was successfully managed with conservative treatment without surgery. ⋯ This case emphasizes that the decision between conservative versus surgical treatment for PCI should be based not solely on radiological findings but rather on a comprehensive assessment, including the underlying condition, vital signs, physical examinations, and blood tests.
