Observational Study
Outcomes of cataract surgeries performed in 8 eyes of centenarians.
Cataract surgery outcomes in centenarian patients have not previously been explored. This study aimed to examine characteristics and report clinical results of people aged ≥100 years undergoing cataract surgery. This was a retrospective observational study, including patients aged ≥100 years who underwent cataract surgery between 2003 and 2021 at Miyata Eye Hospital in Japan. ⋯ The postoperative best-corrected visual acuity was significantly improved compared to that before surgery (1.18 ± 0.74 and 0.29 ± 0.52, respectively, P = .004). Neither intraocular pressure nor corneal endothelial cell density demonstrated a significant difference postoperatively. Cataract surgery can be safely performed under topical anesthesia in centenarians without complications using proper perioperative medical control and preparation.

Comparative Study
Comparison of depression and anxiety in first- versus non-first generation Saudi medical students: A cross-sectional study.
Depression and anxiety are prevalent psychiatric illnesses worldwide. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of these illnesses and their associated sociodemographic factors among medical students at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by comparing first- and non-first-generation students. This cross-sectional study included 367 participants. ⋯ A statistically significant (P < .001) association was observed between anxiety and depression. Future research should focus on identifying, developing, and examining interventions that target at-risk groups of medical students. Multicenter studies with more rigorous research methodologies are warranted to validate these results.

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) frequently invades nearby lymph nodes, the liver, and lungs. The liver and lungs are also common anatomic sites for the first recurrence of CCA. However, metastasis to the brain is exceptionally rare. ⋯ This case highlights the unpredictable nature of metastatic patterns in CCA, where brain metastasis occurs very late, preceding locoregional recurrence in the liver. This challenges conventional expectations and underscores the need for vigilant surveillance and consideration of atypical metastatic sites in long-term survivors of CCA.

Breast low-grade adenosquamous carcinoma is an uncommon cancer that has been neglected in genetic and pathophysiological research. Consequently, medical practitioners face challenges in the effective diagnosis and treatment of this condition. ⋯ Owing to the rare combination of estrogen receptor positivity and high-grade progression, this patient also required adjuvant chemotherapy. This enhances the essential foundation for diagnosing and treating this rare disease, and facilitates the implementation of treatment plans.

Case Reports
Case report: A case of renal vessel rupture caused by severe vomiting in early pregnancy.
Spontaneous renal vessel rupture is a rare clinical emergency. However, pregnancy symptoms and signs are not obvious, and the limited examination methods obscure the observation. Thus, early renal rupture is challenging to detect, leading to misdiagnosis and poor prognosis. This paper aims to improve clinicians' understanding of this disease and reduce the rate of clinical misdiagnosis. ⋯ To avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis, patients with abdominal pain caused by severe vomiting during pregnancy must be closely monitored. Additionally, treatment should be considered individually to ensure the safety of both mother and child. Therefore, spontaneous renal vessel rupture should be considered as the differential diagnosis.
