Managing postoperative pain effectively with an opioid-free regimen following laparoscopic surgery (LS) remains a significant challenge. Intraperitoneal instillation of ropivacaine has been explored for its potential to reduce acute postoperative pain, but its efficacy and safety are still under debate. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intraperitoneal instillation of ropivacaine for acute pain management following laparoscopic digestive surgery. ⋯ The registration number at PROSPERO was CRD42021279238.

Meta Analysis
Effectiveness of Bairui granules in the treatment of respiratory tract infections: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) are characterized by a high mortality rate and clinical incidence. Bairui granules (BG), which employ a method of heat elimination and detoxification, have demonstrated benefits in the treatment of infectious respiratory diseases. ⋯ The effectiveness of treating RTIs using BG alone or in combination with WT was determined to be superior to using WT alone, with no serious adverse effects observed. However, additional RCTs are essential to further confirm the findings of this study.

Acupuncture for constipation in Parkinson's disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurological disease worldwide, and there is a potential interaction between PD and constipation. PD constipation often causes significant trouble for patients and seriously affects their quality of life. Acupuncture is widely used for treating constipation and has been clinically proven. However, it is unclear whether the current evidence is sufficient to support acupuncture to improve PD constipation. ⋯ The present results show that compared with conventional treatment, acupuncture combined with conventional treatment seems to increase the number of spontaneous defecations in PD patients, improve quality of life, increase rectal resting pressure, and alleviate the severity of chronic constipation. Thus, acupuncture has the potential to treat PD constipation. However, due to the study's limitations, higher-quality RCTs are needed for verification.

Review Case Reports
Fingertip cutaneous metastasis of salivary duct carcinoma secondary to scald: A unique case report and a brief review of literature (following CARE guidelines).
Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is an aggressive form of cancer, with cutaneous metastasis being a rare occurrence. Furthermore, cutaneous metastasis of SDC secondary to a scald is even rarer, and to the best of our knowledge, our case represents the first such instance. Considering the involvement of the fingers in the metastatic site, which may affect limb function and quality of life, we present this case to explore the reason why scald could lead to distant recurrence and better treatment options. ⋯ Connections between scald and distant metastasis of malignant tumors in this case needed further investigation. Considering reserving function of the fingers while dealing with metastasis, radiotherapy is recommended rather than surgery.

Review Case Reports
Ruptured primary ovarian pregnancy: A case report with a literature review.
Ovarian pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy, accounting for 0.5% to 3% of the total number of ectopic pregnancies. Its diagnostic rate is very low and it can be easily misdiagnosed before laparoscopy, due to the clinical presentation being very similar to tubal pregnancy. The ovarian blood supply is abundant, and in case of rupture of ovarian pregnancy, intra-abdominal hemorrhage or even hemorrhagic shock may occur, endangering the patient's life. We report a case of ruptured primary ovarian pregnancy through natural conception. ⋯ Gynecologists should be alert to patients with menopausal lower abdominal pain with or without vaginal bleeding and consider ectopic pregnancy in rare sites, such as ovarian pregnancy. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment, and early laparoscopic exploration may be beneficial in clarifying the diagnosis and performing the concurrent surgical treatment.
