PTGS2 as target of compound Huangbai liquid in the nursing of pressure ulcer.
Pressure ulcer refers to ulceration and necrosis caused by local skin and cell tissues being compressed for a long time, continuous ischemia, hypoxia, and malnutrition. However, role of prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2) in the management of pressure ulcers in with compound Huangbai liquid is still unclear. ⋯ PTGS2 may be a target for treatment of pressure ulcers with compound Huangbai liquid, providing a new direction for its treatment.

The effect of early versus late remdesivir treatment in hospitalized mild to moderate COVID-19 patients in the Omicron era: A retrospective study.
Although real-world studies have found that remdesivir is effective in preventing poor prognosis, more information is needed on the optimal timing of remdesivir administration in high-risk coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients in the Omicron era. From February 2022 to January 2023, a single-center retrospective study was performed in Korea. We compared the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes between early (remdesivir treatment within 0-3 days from symptom onset) and late (≥ 4 days from symptom onset) treatment groups of patients who received remdesivir monotherapy. ⋯ The early treatment group had a lower rate of 28-day progression to severe disease than the late treatment group (1.4% vs 7.4%, P = .03). Delaying remdesivir treatment ≥ 4 days from symptom onset (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 6.17; 95% CI, 1.18-32.44; P = .03) and Charlson comorbidity index ≥ 3 (aOR, 9.62; 95% CI, 1.65-56.10; P = .01) were independent risk factors for 28-day progression to severe disease. Our results suggest that early administration of remdesivir could be associated with better prognosis in COVID-19 patients with the Omicron variant, and within 3 days from symptom onset seems to be the appropriate timing.

The association of depression and sleep disorders in patients with type 1 diabetes in Taiwan.
The association between depression and sleep disorders in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) in Taiwan is underexplored. We used a nationwide population-based dataset to evaluate the association of T1DM with these conditions in Taiwan from 2001 to 2019. Patients with T1DM were identified as cases, and 2 control groups were used for comparison: patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and nondiabetic patients. ⋯ When comparing the T1DM and T2DM groups, T1DM patients demonstrated a slightly higher risk of depression (HR 1.11, 95% CI 1.07-1.16) but no significant difference in the risk of sleep disorders compared to T2DM patients. These results were consistent regardless of different ages or sexes. This study demonstrates a significant association between diabetes mellitus and the risk of depression and sleep disorders in a large cohort of Taiwanese patients.

The prognostic significance of CD117-positive mast cells and microvessel density in colorectal cancer.
The prognostic significance of angiogenesis has been demonstrated in various types of cancer. However, in colorectal cancer (CRC), there are conflicting results regarding the relationship between angiogenesis and clinical-histopathological prognostic factors. Mast cells are immune system cells found in the inflammatory microenvironment; their role in carcinogenesis and prognosis remains unclear although they are considered to cause cancer development and progression. ⋯ The MVD was found to be associated with the pathological T stage, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis (P < .05). Although the MCC was positively correlated with MVD, there was no association between the MCC and clinical-histopathological prognostic factors. MVD-assessed angiogenesis was significantly related to survival and the clinical-histopathological prognostic factors in patients diagnosed with CRC.

While more common in men globally, heart diseases also rank as the leading cause of death among women. This study aimed to examine the relationship between Turkish women's level of knowledge about cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and their health literacy. Data for this descriptive and cross-sectional study were collected online by using Health Literacy Scale and CVD risk factor knowledge level scale from October 2022, to May 2023. ⋯ The study's findings highlight the challenges encountered by women with low socioeconomic status in accessing accurate information. It may be recommended that nurses provide health education and consultancy services to these women on the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases. Also, public education programs should consider socioeconomic and educational levels, focusing on women who encounter difficulties accessing information.
