Mowat-Wilson syndrome (MWS) is a rare genetic condition resulting in multiple congenital anomalies, including facial dysmorphism, structural anomalies of the internal organs, functional disorders, and, although less commonly, ocular abnormalities. To present a child with MWS and eye abnormalities. ⋯ Children with genetically determined congenital anomalies need regular ophthalmic checkups to accurately assess the eye and determine the prospects of vision function development.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a severe condition that often leads to persistent damage of nerve cells and motor dysfunction. Autophagy is an intracellular system that regulates the recycling and degradation of proteins and lipids, primarily through lysosomal-dependent organelle degradation. Numerous publications have highlighted the involvement of autophagy in the secondary injury of SCI. Therefore, gaining a comprehensive understanding of autophagy research is crucial for designing effective therapies for SCI. ⋯ We demonstrated a comprehensive overview of the relationship between autophagy and SCI utilizing bibliometric tools. This article could help to enhance the understanding of the field about autophagy and SCI, foster collaboration among researchers and organizations, and identify potential therapeutic targets for treatment.

The aim of this study is to screen the differentially expressed genes and genes with alternative splicing in PPIA overexpressing cells by transcriptome sequencing. Transcriptome sequencing was performed to identify differentially expressed genes and genes with altered alternative splicing in PPIA overexpressing cells and results were validated by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The biological function and pathways of those genes were further explored through Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses. ⋯ Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses showed that the 157 upregulated genes were mainly enriched in gastric acid secretion, Mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway, etc, and the 171 downregulated genes were mainly enriched in transcriptional misregulation in cancer, Tumor necrosis factor signaling pathway, etc. The overexpression of PPIA in human umbilical vein endothelial cells causes changes in the expression of downstream genes and induces alternative splicing in multiple genes. PPIA alters the expression or the alternative splicing pattern of downstream genes, leading to pathogenesis of vascular endothelial injury by high glucose mediated through CyPA.

The impact of nimodipine combined with Ginkgo biloba extract on cognitive function and ADL scores in patients with Parkinson's disease: A retrospective study.
This study aims to explore the value of nimodipine combined with Ginkgo biloba extract in improving cognitive function and daily living abilities in patients with Parkinson's disease. Clinical data from 551 patients with Parkinson's disease admitted to the Neurology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Beihua University from January 2022 to December 2022 were retrospectively collected. Cognitive function and daily living abilities were assessed in patients before treatment, and a reevaluation was conducted after 12 weeks of medication. ⋯ The total effective rate of treatment in the combination group was 90.36%, which was higher than the control group at 72.29% (P < .05). However, after treatment, the observation group showed higher Mini-Mental State Examination and activities of daily living scores compared to the control group (P < .05). The combined treatment of nimodipine and Ginkgo biloba extract in patients with Parkinson's disease has a significant effect and can effectively improve cognitive function and enhance daily living abilities.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of legumain in metabolic dysfunction, diagnosis, and prognosis in patients with atherosclerosis. ⋯ In conclusion, our data indicate that legumain expression is upregulated in both plasma and plaques of patients with atherosclerosis, which is associated with metabolic dysfunction of endothelial cell and might be a diagnostic and prognostic marker of atherosclerosis.
