Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is characterized by recurrent episodes of transient severe pain in its distribution area, with abrupt onset and termination. With the progression of the disease, patients are prone to concurrent psychiatric disorders, such as anxiety and depression, which seriously affect patients' quality of life. ⋯ TCM therapy works by promoting the release of endogenous opioid peptides, adjusting the level of inflammatory factors, and improving negative emotions to exert analgesic effects. This paper discusses the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine in the treatment of TN from the perspective of modern medicine and provides a theoretical basis for seeking better therapeutic targets.

The dermatological manifestations and differential diagnosis of monkeypox: A narrative review.
Monkeypox (MPX) is a zoonotic viral disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), which belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus. The main clinical features of MPX are fever, rash, and lymphadenopathy. ⋯ The world health organization declared the outbreak of MPX in 2022 a global health emergency. In this article, we focus on the mucocutaneous manifestations and differential diagnosis of MPX.

Diet and lifestyle modifications remain the foundation of obesity treatment, but they have historically proven insufficient for significant, long-term weight loss. As a result, there is a high demand for new pharmacologic treatments to promote weight loss and prevent life-threatening diseases associated with obesity. ⋯ Semaglutide and liraglutide, which were initially approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, have since been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as weight loss medications due to their effectiveness in promoting significant and sustained weight loss. In this narrative review, we will explore the mechanism of GLP-1 RAs, their effects on weight loss, cardiovascular risk factors and outcomes, common adverse effects, and strategies for managing these effects.

Central role of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α in metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells: A review.
Metabolic reprogramming is one of the characteristics of tumor cell metabolism. In tumor cells, there are multiple metabolic enzymes and membrane proteins to regulate metabolic reprogramming, and hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) can be regulated in transcription, translation, posttranslational modification and other aspects through multiple pathways, and HIF-1α affects multiple metabolic enzymes and membrane proteins during metabolic reprogramming, thus playing a central role in the metabolic reprogramming process, and thus has some implications for tumor therapy and understanding chemotherapy drug resistance. HIF-1α affects a number of metabolic enzymes and membrane proteins in the metabolic reprogramming process, thus playing a central role in the metabolic reprogramming process, which has certain significance for the treatment of tumors and the understanding of chemotherapeutic drug resistance. In this paper, we review the central role of HIF-1α in metabolic reprogramming, chemotherapeutic agents targeting HIF-1α, and chemotherapeutic drug resistance.

This review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Baduanjin qigong on perimenopausal and postmenopausal symptoms based on clinical trials. A literature search was conducted in 7 databases up to June 30, 2023. The information of study design and observed indicator based on perimenopausal and postmenopausal stage was extracted. ⋯ From the data available, the program with 2 to 3 times a day (81.82%, 9/11) reported the highest number of significant effects, with a maximum duration of 12 months (55.56%, 5/9), followed by 6 months (33.33%, 3/9). A total of 8 trials mentioned the adverse reactions, but none was related to Baduanjin, and the dropout of participants (1.96%, 57/2912) was also not associated with Baduanjin. There is evidence for positive effects of Baduanjin in addressing perimenopausal mental disorders and postmenopausal osteoporosis, but more research is necessary to clarify best practices and quantify results.
