Growing evidence suggests that heart failure (HF) is associated with an increased risk of depressive disorders and anxiety. However, the existing studies were observational and may have confounded and not reflected true causal relationships. This study collected genetic instruments about HF, depression, and anxiety from publicly available genetic summary data. ⋯ In contrast, the results of HF on anxiety exhibited inconsistency (OR = 1.60, 95% CI = 1.10-2.31, P = .013 for Heart Failure Molecular Epidemiology for Therapeutic Targets Consortium; OR = 1.42, 95% CI = 0.91-2.21, P = .123 for FinnGen Consortium); however, a combined effect analysis indicated support causal relationship between HF and the risk of anxiety (OR = 1.52, 95% CI = 1.07-2.00, P < .001). Our findings did not reveal evidence to confirm a causal association between HF and depression. However, our results provide support for a causal effect of HF on the risk of anxiety.

Ferroptosis is iron-dependent programmed cell death that inhibits tumor growth, particularly in traditional treatment-resistant tumors. Prognostic models constructed from ferroptosis-related genes are lacking; prognostic biomarkers remain insufficient. We acquired gene expression data and corresponding clinical information for bladder cancer (BC) samples from public databases. ⋯ Specific ferroptosis-related gene expression was associated with immune cell infiltration levels. The risk score was significantly correlated with patients' clinical characteristics. A novel, widely applicable risk model with independent predictive value for the prognosis of patients with BC was established; candidate molecules for future BC research were identified.

Myopia is the most common refractive error worldwide, contributing not only to visual impairment but also serving as a potential risk factor for various severe ocular diseases. Its impact on patients' quality of life and health is significant and imposes substantial socioeconomic burdens. In this study, we analyzed the top 100 most cited articles related to myopia published in the Web of Science Core Collection database from January 2000 to February 2024. ⋯ The top 5 co-occurring keywords were refractive error, risk factors, prevalence, eye growth, and form-deprivation myopia. Cluster analysis results highlighted focal points such as retinal detachment, high myopia, and contrast sensitivity, indicating potential future research trends. Prospective research directions include investigating the pathogenesis of myopia, updating diagnostic technologies, and identifying risk genes for myopia and its complications.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide because of its high morbidity and mortality. Traditional Chinese Medicine compounds play a crucial role in preventing cardiovascular diseases. Danggui Sini Decoction (DSD) is widely used clinically for cardiovascular diseases. ⋯ Gene ontology and Kyoto encyclopedia of gene and genome analyses revealed that DSD treatment of MI mainly involves the positive regulation of the ERK1 and ERK2 cascades, positive regulation of cell proliferation, inflammatory responses, aging, and the MAPK cascade, along with other biological processes. The molecular docking results indicate that DSD drugs may interact with AKT1, EGFR, TP53, and TNF through formononetin, isorhamnetin, β-Sitosterol, and kaempferol, potentially contributing to the treatment of MI. By utilizing a multi-component, multi-pathway, and multi-target mode of action, DSD may have the potential to prevent MI.

Occlusive retinal vasculitis and scleritis following brolucizumab treatment: A case report.
Brolucizumab is an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agent. Clinical trials have demonstrated excellent efficacy of brolucizumab for neovascular age-related macular degeneration in terms of both visual and anatomic outcomes. However, compared with conventional anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy, this new treatment has a higher incidence of complications, particularly the development of occlusive retinal vasculitis. In this case report, we describe a patient who developed occlusive retinal vasculitis following brolucizumab treatment for age-related macular degeneration, followed by scleritis 141 days later. ⋯ This case underscores the potential for brolucizumab-induced scleritis and emphasizes the importance of recognizing and promptly managing this complication. Furthermore, it highlights the need for long-term careful follow-up in patients who develop occlusive retinal vasculitis after brolucizumab treatment.
