Male infertility is a multifactorial disease due to spermatogenesis impairment, with etiology remaining unknown for roughly one-third of infertile cases. Several studies have demonstrated that genetic variants are male infertility risk factors. CFAP43 and TEX14 are involved in the spermatogenesis process. ⋯ For CFAP43 rs10883979, in the recessive model, the combination AA + AG was associated with male infertility when compared to the GG genotype (OR = 0.26; 95% CI: 0.06-0.85; P = .02). For TEX14 rs79813370, a protective effect against infertility risk was identified in the presence of the T allele of rs79813370 when compared to the G allele (OR = 0.48; 95% CI: 0.32-0.72; P < .001). Our results suggest that CFAP43 rs10883979 and TEX14 rs79813370 are likely associated with male infertility in the Vietnamese population, in which the G allele of rs79813370 may be a risk factor for male infertility.

Investigating soluble CD40 ligand as a prognostic factor among acute coronary syndromes patients: A multi-center prospective case-control study.
Soluble CD40 ligand (sCD40L) is a protein that plays a crucial role in the inflammatory response associated with the development and progression of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Recent studies have suggested that sCD40L may be a useful prognostic factor for ACS, but the data are conflicting. This study aimed to investigate the potential of sCD40L as a prognostic marker among ACS patients and provide valuable insights for clinical practice. ⋯ This study provides evidence supporting the potential of sCD40L as a prognostic factor in ACS. The elevated levels of sCD40L observed in these subtypes indicate its potential usefulness in risk stratification and predicting adverse cardiovascular events. Further investigations are warranted to establish standardized sCD40L cutoff values and evaluate its clinical implications in the management of ACS patients.

Transactivation DNA-binding protein-related genes were associated with salivary gland injury in primary Sjögren syndrome.
The purpose was to identify transactivation DNA-binding protein-related genes in salivary gland injury in primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS) in southwest China. We downloaded the datasets of GSE7451, GSE23117, and GSE40611. In order to screen the candidate genes, 2 kinds of machine learning algorithms were used. ⋯ We revealed that CSF2RB could be the candidate gene of pSS. CSF2RB was involved by regulating various immune cells. The expression of CSF2RB was significantly upregulated, which was related to the increase of γδ T cells.

Complicated colorectal diverticulitis could be fatal, and an abscess caused by this complication is usually formed at the pericolic, mesenteric, or pelvic abscess. Therefore, we report a rare case of sigmoid colon diverticulitis that developed a large inguinal abscess. ⋯ We report a rare case of sigmoid colon diverticulitis that developed a large inguinal abscess, which was immediately improved by percutaneous drainage and appropriate antibiotics administration.
