The association between fruit and vegetable consumption and mental health disorders: evidence from five waves of a national survey of Canadians.
The objective of this study was to examine the association between fruit and vegetable intake (FVI) and mental health disorders. ⋯ These findings suggest a potentially important role of a healthy diet in the prevention of depression and anxiety.

Review Meta AnalysisThe effect of participation in school-based nutrition education interventions on body mass index: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled community trials.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of school-based nutrition education interventions in reducing or preventing overweight and obesity among children and adolescents. ⋯ This systematic review provides evidence that school-based nutrition education interventions are effective in reducing the BMI of children and adolescents.

Randomized Controlled TrialPROSPER community-university partnership delivery system effects on substance misuse through 6 1/2 years past baseline from a cluster randomized controlled intervention trial.
To examine the effects of a delivery system for evidence-based preventive interventions through 12th grade, 6.5 years past baseline. ⋯ Partnership-based delivery systems for brief universal interventions have potential for public health impact by reducing substance misuse among youth, particularly higher-risk youth.

Influenza vaccination coverage and timeliness among children requiring two doses, 2004-2009.
To assess influenza vaccination coverage and timeliness among children requiring two doses in a season. ⋯ Despite improvements, low-income, minority children requiring two influenza vaccine doses remain at risk of incomplete and delayed vaccination. Barriers to and strategies for timely full vaccination should be explored.

Incorporating walking or cycling into car journeys to and from work: the role of individual, workplace and environmental characteristics.
Small increases in walking or cycling for transport could contribute to population health improvement. We explore the individual, workplace and environmental characteristics associated with the incorporation of walking and cycling into car journeys. ⋯ Interventions that provide pleasant and convenient routes, limit or charge for workplace car parking and provide free off-site car parking may encourage car commuters to incorporate walking and cycling into car journeys. The effects of such interventions remain to be evaluated.
