Smoke load/cancer death rate associations in Korea females, 1985-2004.
Korea female death rates from many cancers have risen rapidly since 1985. The sources of those cancer death epidemics are unclear but may be related to rising cumulative tobacco smoke damage (smoke load). We assessed Korea female smoke load/cancer death rate associations from 1985 to 2004. ⋯ Smoke load, probably from tobacco given the epidemic time course, may cause a large cancer death burden in Korea females despite their very low self-reported prevalence of smoking.

Meta AnalysisTailored interventions to promote mammography screening: a meta-analytic review.
To evaluate the effectiveness of tailored interventions, designed to reach one specific person based on her unique characteristics, for promoting mammography use. ⋯ Tailored interventions, particularly those that employ the Health Belief Model and use a physician recommendation, are effective in promoting mammography screening. Future investigations should strive to use more standardized definitions of tailoring and assessments of mammography outcomes.

Review Meta AnalysisProcess of care failures in invasive cervical cancer: systematic review and meta-analysis.
As invasive cervical cancer is preventable when screening and treatment of pre-invasive lesions are timely and appropriate, several past studies attempted to enumerate the quality of preventive care invasive cervical cancer subjects received before diagnosis. Objectives of the present study were to review and to summarize the findings of these studies in a meta-analysis. ⋯ Appropriate assessment of the effect of combined failures in the process of care must be done in comprehensive audit studies.

ReviewPredictors of HPV vaccine acceptability: a theory-informed, systematic review.
To inform future human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programs, we systematically reviewed studies of HPV-related beliefs and HPV vaccine acceptability, organizing the findings using health behavior theory and cervical cancer risk factors. ⋯ HPV vaccine programs in the United States should emphasize high vaccine effectiveness, the high likelihood of HPV infection, and physicians' recommendations, and address barriers to vaccination.

Randomized Controlled TrialCommercial venues as supports for physical activity in adolescent girls.
The purposes of this study were to describe the types and availability of commercial facilities for physical activity (PA) in six diverse geographic areas (Washington DC and Maryland; South Carolina; Minnesota; Louisiana; Arizona; and California) and to assess the relationship between those facilities and the non-school PA of adolescent girls. ⋯ The findings suggest that commercial PA facilities are important contributors to the accumulation of PA among adolescent girls.
