In utero exposure to gestational diabetes mellitus and long term endocrine morbidity of the offspring.
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a worldwide public health problem. Few studies investigated the association of intra uterine exposure to GDM and long-term endocrine morbidity of offspring. ⋯ Exposure to GDM is a risk factor for long-term endocrine morbidity in the offspring.

Association between insulin resistance and objective measurement of physical activity in community-dwelling older adults without diabetes mellitus.
The main objective of this study was to determine the association between objectively measured physical activity (PA) and cardiometabolic risk factors, particularly insulin resistance (IR), in Japanese community-dwelling older adults without diabetes mellitus. ⋯ IR was associated with LPA or total steps, but not with MVPA, in community-dwelling older adults without diabetes mellitus.

Multicenter StudyCan trajectories of glycemic control be predicted by depression, anxiety, or diabetes-related distress in a prospective cohort of adults with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes? Results of a five-year follow-up from the German multicenter diabetes cohort study (GMDC-Study).
The longitudinal association between glycemic control with depression, anxiety or diabetes-related distress in type 1 diabetes is poorly understood. Therefore, we examined long-term trajectories of HbA1c in a new-onset cohort of adults with type 1 diabetes, and analyzed associations with depression, anxiety, and diabetes-related distress. ⋯ We identified distinct trajectories of glycemic control. Depression and anxiety were highly prevalent but they neither predicted 'poor'/'good' glycemic control trajectories nor were they associated with glycemic control at any assessment point.

Serum fibrinogen predicts diabetic ESRD in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Although increased serum fibrinogen level was often observed in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN), its association with DN severity and progression remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the serum fibrinogen levels and clinicopathological features and renal prognosis in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and DN. ⋯ These findings suggested that the elevated serum levels of fibrinogen were associated with diabetic ESRD in patients with T2DM.

Maternal gestational diabetes and long-term respiratory related hospitalizations of the offspring.
To assess the implications of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) on long-term respiratory related hospitalizations of the offspring. ⋯ Gestational diabetes mellitus does not appear to be associated with long-term respiratory hospitalizations of the offspring other than obstructive sleep apnea-related hospitalizations.
