The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is considered a systemic inflammatory marker and has been associated with a poor prognosis in various cancer types. The aim of this study was to assess whether lower NLR values are associated with higher adductor pollicis muscle thickness (APMT) values in patients with gastrointestinal tract cancer. ⋯ In patients with cancer, NLR is negatively associated with APMT.

The aim of this study was to investigate the alteration of the human urine metabolome by means of diet and to compare the metabolic effects of the nutritionally healthy New Nordic Diet (NND) with an Average Danish Diet (ADD). The NND was designed a decade ago by scientists and chefs, based on local and sustainable foods, including fish, shellfish, vegetables, roots, fruit, and berries. The NND has been proven to lower blood pressure, reduce glycemia, and lead to weight loss. ⋯ Findings from this study provided new insights into the effects of a healthy diet on glycemia, reduction of inflammation, and weight loss among obese individuals, and alteration of the gut microbiota metabolism.

Review Meta Analysis
Biomarker of dietary linoleic acid and risk for stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Previous observational studiíes provided conflicting findings on the relationship between linoleic acid (LA) and the risk for stroke. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of LA levels in blood or adipose tissue samples with risk for stroke. ⋯ The present study supported an inverse association of LA levels with the risk for stroke, particularly ischemic stroke. Racial disparity exists in the association between LA and the risk for stroke, which deserves further studies.

The aim of this study was to provide the percentiles of distribution of body composition parameters according to cancer staging and body mass index (BMI) stratum, as well as to identify the contribution of age, BMI, and cancer staging in the variation of the different parameters of body composition in a population of patients with endometrial cancer. ⋯ This study provides age, stage, and BMI specific percentiles for body composition parameters, which allowed an in-depth interpretation of how such body compartments, especially the low/high SM sub-ranges, varies according to these stratification variables.

The Internet has become the main source of health-related information including nutrition. The aim of this study was to rank the most popular diets among Google users globally and regionally in addition to secular and seasonal trends in the years 2004 to 2019. ⋯ Veganism, vegetarianism, and gluten-free diet attract the largest public interest globally. Both secular trends and seasonal variation shape the ever-changing landscape of diet popularity. GT holds promise as a valuable tool in local and international nutrition research.
