[Pain management during pregnancy : An expert-based interdisciplinary consensus recommendation].
Pregnancy and pain of different origins is an unfavorable combination that presents all practitioners with special challenges. Pain negatively affects the homeostasis of humans. Patient compliance and in-depth knowledge of the fetotoxicity and teratogenicity of the substances are necessary to maintain a balance between therapy for the mother and safety of the unborn child. ⋯ A deliberated concept for pain therapy during pregnancy should be initiated with a non-pharmacological intervention and, if necessary, supplemented with pharmacological agents.

Most patients in the last phase of life can be treated in the context of generalist palliative care, especially by general practitioners. In contrast to specialized palliative care, non-cancer patients predominate in this setting. ⋯ The current literature search highlights the importance of optimizing the processes and structures in providing palliative care and the discussion of end-of-life issues at an early stage in general practice. Therefore, a structured identification of palliative care needs identified by appropriate assessment instruments is crucial.

The treatment of patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) takes place in an interdisciplinary and multimodal setting. Physical therapies represent a major treatment focus along with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and analgetic treatments. This review explains their importance in current clinical practice and gives an impression of the evidence on different treatments including electrotherapy, neuromodulating procedures, manual lymphatic drainage, CO2 applications and paraffin wax baths. As far as ascertainable from clinical experience and the scientific literature, treatment recommendations are presented in accordance with current guidelines.

Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic classroom teaching was largely discontinued at all German medical faculties in the summer semester (SS) 2020. This also affected undergraduate education in palliative care, which is established with an average of 22 teaching units. Teachers were asked to rapidly develop digital teaching and assessment tools. ⋯ The design of examinations in SS 2020 is rated worse in the self-evaluation than the teaching design. Multiple choice questions were often used in classroom examinations. Lecturers would like the DGP to create and collect teaching and assessment materials centrally.
