Clinical TrialWord-level intelligibility after caudal zona incerta stimulation for Parkinson's disease.
To investigate the effect of caudal zona incerta-deep brain stimulation (cZi-DBS) on word-level speech intelligibility in patients with Parkinson's disease, under both an optimal listening condition and a simulated more naturalistic listening condition. ⋯ The results of this study indicate that cZi-DBS in patients with PD can be detrimental to word-level speech intelligibility.

Multicenter Study Clinical TrialEfficacy and tolerability of add-on lacosamide in children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
Available data on the efficacy of lacosamide in children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) are scarce and controversial. We present our experience with lacosamide therapy in children affected by LGS. ⋯ A third of children with LGS were responders after lacosamide adjunctive therapy. Although caution is still necessary when the drug is used in children with LGS, our preliminary observations suggest that lacosamide might be effective and represent a possible therapeutic option in children affected by LGS.

Comparative StudyIntravenous lacosamide or phenytoin for treatment of refractory status epilepticus.
To compare intravenous phenytoin (PHT) and intravenous lacosamide (LCM) for treatment of status epilepticus after failure of the first and second drug. ⋯ Lacosamide and PHT showed similar success rates for treatment of SE when used after failure of benzodiazepines and levetiracetam. However, PHT was associated with relevant side effects that were not seen with LCM.
