Observational StudyIncreased mean R2* in the deep gray matter of multiple sclerosis patients: Have we been measuring atrophy?
Magnetic resonance relaxometry studies in multiple sclerosis (MS) have suggested that iron accumulates within deep gray matter (DGM) structures early in the disease course. However, the commonly utilized mean R2* and magnetic susceptibility measures reflect regional iron concentration but not a structure's total iron content. Thus, tissue atrophy could impact mean R2* and magnetic susceptibility estimates. ⋯ 1 Technical Efficacy: Stage 1 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:201-208.

Comparative StudyDirect comparison between apparent diffusion coefficient and macromolecular proton fraction as quantitative biomarkers of the human fetal brain maturation.
Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) is known as a quantitative biomarker of prenatal brain maturation. Fast macromolecular proton fraction (MPF) mapping is an emerging method for quantitative assessment of myelination that was recently adapted to fetal MRI. ⋯ 2 Technical Efficacy Stage: 2 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:52-61.

Evaluation of non-monoexponential diffusion models for hepatocellular carcinoma using b values up to 2000 s/mm2 : A short-term repeatability study.
Non-monoexponential diffusion models are being used increasingly for the characterization and curative effect evaluation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). But the fitting quality of the models and the repeatability of their parameters have not been assessed for HCC. ⋯ 2 Technical Efficacy: Stage 2 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:297-304.

Accuracy and precision of proton density fat fraction measurement across field strengths and scan intervals: A phantom and human study.
Complex-based chemical shift imaging-based magnetic resonance imaging (CSE-MRI) is emerging as a preferred method for noninvasively quantifying proton density fat fraction (PDFF), a promising quantitative imaging biomarker (QIB) for longitudinal hepatic steatosis measurement. ⋯ 3 Technical Efficacy: Stage 2 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:305-314.

Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) lowers apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values among intermediate risk prostate cancers.
Prostatic intraductal carcinoma (IDC-P) is an aggressive variant of prostate cancer (PCa) characterized by proliferation of malignant cells within prostatic ducts/acini and nucleomegaly. ⋯ 3 Technical Efficacy Stage: 2 J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2019;50:279-287.
