Case ReportsHearing Loss After the First Low Dose Administration of Cisplatin.
Cisplatin is commonly used antineoplastic drug that is effective against different types of tumours. Nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and ototoxicity constitute the main dose-limiting side effects of the drug. ⋯ Cisplatin-induced hearing impairment is generally dose-related and cumulative; however, the toxicity can occur after the first dose without a cumulative high-dose and can be irreversible. Key Words: Cisplatin, Hearing Loss, Ototoxicity.

Meta AnalysisEffects of Low-intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy on Erectile Dysfunction: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
This present systemic review and meta-analysis was conducted to assess the effectiveness of low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (Li-ESWT) on erectile dysfunction (ED) based on the relevant randomised controlled trials (RCTs). A comprehensive search of databases, including Medline and Embase databases, from 1st January 2012 to 31st July 2020, that investigated the efficacy of Li-ESWT for ED, was searched. All the trials were divided into two groups: the experimental group received a different shockwave treatment, and the control group received the same treatment as the corresponding experimental group vibration, sound, etc) but no energy transmission. ⋯ Compared with placebo treatment, Li-ESWT alleviates ED symptoms in patients, particularly those who have mild or moderate ED. Taken together, these results suggest that the Li-ESWT may hold promise for patients with ED. Key Words: Erectile dysfunction, Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy, Meta-analysis, Randomised controlled trials.

Observational StudyAssociation of C-reactive Protein/Albumin, Procalcitonin/Albumin, Platelet/Lymphocyte, and Lymphocyte/Monocyte Ratio with Mortality in Hospitalised COVID-19 Patients.
To investigate and compare complete blood count and biochemistry parameters such as c-reactive protein/albumin (CRP/ALB) ratio, procalcitonin/albumin (PRO/ALB) ratio, lymphocyte/monocyte (LYM/MON) ratio, platelet/lymphocyte (PLT/LYM) ratio of the recovered/deceased, and ICU (intensive care unit) /ward patients with COVID-19. ⋯ Of the total 590 patients in the study, 358 (60.6%) were males. The total mean age was 65.63 ±14.9 years. The mean age of survivor and deceased groups was 71.32±10.9 and 59.97±16.2 years, respectively (p.

Role of Ruxolitinib in Steroid-Refractory Graft versus Host Disease in Patients Undergoing Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of Ruxolitinib in steroid-refractory graft versus host disease. This retrospective descriptive study was conducted from January 2018 to December 2021. A total of 157 patients underwent allogeneic stem cell transplants during the study period. ⋯ Adverse events of any grade occurred in 16 (80%) patients with grade III/IV adverse events in 4 (20%) patients only. The study showed that Ruxolitinib is a safe and effective second-line therapy for acute and chronic steroid-refractory GVHD. Key Words: Ruxolitinib, GVHD, Allogeneic stem cell transplant.
