Case ReportsPituitary Stalk Interruption Syndrome in a 54-year Adult Male.
Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome (PSIS) is a rare disease with isolated growth hormone deficiency or multiple anterior pituitary hormone deficiencies; and is characterised by a thin or absent pituitary stalk, hypoplasia of the adenohypophysis, and ectopic neurohypophysis. The literature have reported primarily on cases of infants and young people, and there are few reports in adults. A case is presented here of a 54-year male, who reported dizziness accompanied by fatigue and anorexia for more than 20 days; and the results from the blood tests showed a general decline in growth hormone, thyrotropin, and sex hormone levels. ⋯ In summary, PSIS can also occur in adults. In the suspected cases, magnetic resonance imaging should be done in time to diagnose and manage it appropriately early in the course of the disease. Key Words: Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome, Pituitary hormone deficiency, Adults.

Association of Age and Serum Vitamin D Levels in Men with Metabolic Syndrome.
To determine the association of age and serum vitamin D levels in men with (Mets) and without (NMetS) metabolic syndromes. ⋯ Present report, emphasising the significant negative linear correlation of age with serum vitD levels in MetS and NMetS subjects, provides potential information for understanding the discomforts caused by the insufficiency of vitamin D with the increase in age. Key Words: Serum vitD, Age, Metabolic syndrome, Age-vitD association.

Case ReportsPulmonary Mucormycosis in an Immunocompetent Patient: A Rare Life-threatening Case.
Pulmonary mucormycosis is a rare but life-threatening, fungal infection that usually occurs in patients with immunocompromised conditions, such as diabetes mellitus and hematologic malignancies. Anti-fungals and/or surgery are treatment modalities for this disease. Isolated pulmonary mucormycosis in immunocompetent patient is extremely rare and a mortal fungal infection. ⋯ We report herein a case of an immunocompetent 37-year female, who presented with a massive hemoptysis and was treated with urgent right lower lobectomy on a suspicion of fungus ball on tomography scan. The specimen was reported as pulmonary mucormycosis on histopathological examination. Key Words: Mucormycosis, Hemoptysis, Cavitary lesion, Immunocompetent.

Randomized Controlled TrialCerebral Oximetry after Low Pressure versus Standard Pressure Pneumoperitoneum in Laparoscopic Nephrectomy.
To evaluate whether pneumoperitoneum pressure lower than the standard pressure would allow higher cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2) during laparoscopic nephrectomy (LN). ⋯ Low insufflation pressure offered no advantages over standard pressure in terms of haemodynamics, arterial blood gases, cerebral oxygen saturation during LN, and CO2 insufflation did not change rSO2 levels. Key Words: Pneumoperitoneum, Spectroscopy, Oximetry, Nephrectomy, Surgery, Laparoscopic nephrectomy.

HALP Score as a New Prognostic Index in Metastatic Renal Cell Cancer.
To evaluate prognostic significance of the new index, designed by formulating hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) counts in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). ⋯ The HALP score in metastatic RCC patients was closely related to the prognosis. Worse OS was found in patients with a low HALP score. Key Words: HALP score, Overall survival, Progression-free survival, Renal cell carcinoma.
