Treatment of Renal Colic by Nerve Blockade with Lidocaine Versus Intravenous Dexketoprofen.
To compare non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) with spinal nerve blockade of related dermatomes using lidocaine for pain palliation of patients admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) with an episode of renal colic. ⋯ Spinal nerve blocks with 2% lidocaine resulted in greater short-term pain relief than intravenous dexketoprofen in ED patients with renal colic. Key Words: Renal colic, NSAID, lidocaine, Nerve blockade.

Computed Tomography-based Morphological Differences between Histologic Subtypes of Periampullary Ductal Adenocarcinoma.
To evaluate the computed tomography (CT)-based differences between pancreaticobiliary (PBST) and intestinal (IST) subtypes of periampullary pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC). ⋯ Infiltrative appearance is associated with PBST; whereas, nodular appearance more likely predicts IST. The potential role of CT lesion morphology on guiding appropriate chemotherapy in cases with no chance for surgery or biopsy requires addressing. Key Words: Intestinal differentiation, Pancreatobiliary differentiation, Periampullary adenocarcinoma.

Observational StudyPostoperative Audiometric Results of Patients with Otosclerosis in relation with High-resolution Computed Tomography and Intraoperative Macroscopic Findings.
To analyse postoperative audiological findings in fenestral otosclerosis patients treated with stapedotomy, focal location-extensiveness findings on temporal high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT), and intraoperative macroscopic stapes footplate findings. Moreover, preoperative audiological findings were compared with HRCT and intraoperative macroscopic findings. ⋯ Postoperative audiological findings were found to be correlated with intraoperative and HRCT findings. A white footplate seen at surgery or a more extensive otosclerotic focus on temporal HRCT indicates a suboptimal audiological outcome. HRCT findings should be taken into account when planning the surgery. Key Words: Otosclerosis, Temporal bone HRCT, Footplate color, Stapedotomy, Audiometry.

Biomarkers for Impending Risk of Osteoporosis in Premenopausal Women.
To compare 'cytokines' and 'bone turnover markers' in pre- and post-menopausal women and identify their relationship with bone mineral density (BMD) in both groups. Study Design: A cross-sectional study. ⋯ There is an increase in the production of cytokines and bone turnover markers after menopause. TNF-α follows this usual pattern of increase in post-menopausal women and can predict impending bone loss and osteopenia in premenopausal females. Therefore, estimation of this cytokine in pre-menopausal women can give a fair indication of a decline in BMD, bone health, and risk of future osteoporosis. Key Words: Bone mineral density, Cytokines, Bone turnover markers, Osteoporosis.
