Can First-trimester AST to Platelet Ratio Index Scores Predict HELLP Syndrome?
To determine whether the ratio of the first-trimester aspartate aminotransferase (AST) to platelet ratio index (APRI) score will be useful as a new determinant of hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets (HELLP) syndrome that may develop in the later stages of pregnancy Study Design: Descriptive-analytical study. ⋯ There was an association of first-trimester APRI scores with the prediction of HELLP syndrome, possibly developing in the later weeks of pregnancy. Predicting HELLP syndrome in the early period can assist in proper management and taking necessary precautions. Key Words: HELLP syndrome prediction, First-trimester APRI, APRI scores in pregnancy, APRI score.

Observational StudyRenal Allograft Biopsy Findings in Live-related Renal Transplant Recipients.
To determine the pattern of histopathology in living-related, kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) from a transplant centre in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan. ⋯ Among the studied specimens, mixed lesions were the predominant findings, followed by others (mostly CNI toxicity) and IFTA categories. The frequency of acute/active rejections was low and that of chronic changes higher, in keeping with delayed biopsies. Key Words: Allograft biopsy, Graft dysfunction, Rejection, Kidney.

Correlation between 1-FABP, Blood Routine and Grading of Necrotising Enterocolitis.
Correlation was sought between serum intestinal fatty acid binding protein (I-FABP), blood routine examination indexes, and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) disease classification. According to Bell-NEC grade, 86 children with NEC were divided into mild group (46 cases) and severe group (40 cases). Serum I-FBAP and blood routine indices including white blood cells (WBC), platelets (PLT), neutrophils and lymphocytes were determined. ⋯ NEC grade was positively correlated with I-FABP and WBC (r=0. 930, p <0.001; r=0. 946, p <0.001), negatively correlated with PLT (r=-0. 602, p <0.001), and had weak correlation with neutrophils and lymphocytes (r=0. 186, p=0. 087; r=0. 072, p=0. 509). In conclusion, serum levels of I-FABP, WBC and PLT were correlated with the severity of NEC in children, which could be used as a reference index to judge prognosis of NEC children. Key Words: Necrotizing enterocolitis of newborn (NEC), Serum, Intestinal fatty acid binding protein (I-FABP), Routine blood indices.

Observational StudyPulmonary Functions in Patients with End Stage Renal Disease and their Effect after Hemodialysis.
To determine the pulmonary functions in patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and the associated factors including the acute effects of hemodialysis. ⋯ Restrictive lung disease is the most common pulmonary dysfunction among ESRD patients. Factors associated with pulmonary dysfunctions were male gender and diabetes mellitus. Hemodialysis did not improve pulmonary functions. Key Words: ESRD, Pulmonary functions, Restrictive lung disease, Fluid overload.

Predictive Value of Betatrophin for Determining the Cardiovascular Risks of Obese Individuals.
To determine cardiovascular risk factors, calculate cardiovascular risk, and the value of betatrophin, a novel biomarker in predicting the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in obese individuals. ⋯ Its significant relationship with the risk groups determined by the Framingham scoring system and triglyceride level is promising for betatrophin to be used as a new biomarker in predicting the CVD risk. Key Words: Betatrophin, Framingham score, Cardiovascular disease, Obesity, Risk.
