Meta AnalysisEffectiveness of Evidence Based Physical Therapy Management Approaches in Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction: A Meta-analysis.
Worldwide the prevalence of sacroiliac joint dysfunction (SIJD) lies within a range of 13% to 30%. In approximately 10% to 25% of patients, SIJD is a cause of mechanical low back and leg pain. A total of 498 subjects included in 10 studies conducted from 2018 to 2022 were included in this analysis. ⋯ The results revealed statistically significant findings of physical therapy-based management approaches in decreasing pain (SMD -1.068, p=0.0001, I2=95.11%) and lowering the levels of disability (SMD -0.997, p=0.0001, I2=95.76%) among patients with SIJD as estimated using a random effect model. It was concluded that physical therapy-based management approaches ranging from combined exercise therapy to MET and K-taping are significantly more effective than traditional approaches. Key Words: Exercise, Sacroiliac joint, Pain, Disability, Physical therapy, Muscle energy technique, Kinesiotaping.

Meta Analysisrs719725 Polymorphism and Colorectal Cancer Susceptibility: A Meta-analysis.
Many studies have suggested an association between 9p24 rs719725 polymorphism and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk, but with inconsistent results. This meta-analysis aimed to summarise the overall association of rs719725 polymorphism with CRC risk. Nine eligible articles with 21 case-control studies (16015 CRC patients and 19341 controls) on the rs719725 polymorphism and CRC susceptibility from four electronic databases (Web of Science, PubMed, SinoMed, and EMBASE) were retrieved and analysed. ⋯ Taken together, this meta-analysis indicates that rs719725 genetic variants are associated with an increased risk of CRC among Caucasians and population-based studies. Further relevant research is warranted to confirm these findings. Key Words: Colorectal cancer, rs719725, Polymorphism, Meta-analysis, Stratification analysis.

Review Meta AnalysisSubstance Abuse and Mental Health Issues Among HIV/AIDS Patients.
Psychiatric morbidity commonly coexists with substance abuse and HIV/AIDS around the globe. This review study aimed to determine the available literature on the prevalence of common substance abuse/use and common mental health illnesses among HIV/AIDS patients worldwide to help policymakers design appropriate strategies to limit extensive substance use and prevent common mental and health illnesses. For the comprehensive literature review, Google Scholar, PubMed Central, Medline, and PakMediNet biomedical databases were searched for original and reviewed studies published in English, from January 2000 to September 2021. ⋯ There was no significant publication bias, but substantial heterogeneity was observed in the presented studies. The current systematic review and meta-analysis showed a greater prevalence of substance abuse and mental health illnesses among HIV/AIDS patients than the general population at the global level. Key Words: Substances, Substance use, Substance abuse, Alcohol abuse, Tobacco smoking, HIV/AIDS, Depression, Anxiety, Mental health, HIV/AIDS, Worldwide.

Review Meta AnalysisComparison of Contrast-enhanced versus Non-enhanced Helical Computed Tomography in the Diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis: A Meta-analysis.
The aim of this review was to compare the performance of contrast-enhanced versus non-contrast-enhanced helical computed tomography (CT) for acute appendicitis as reported. A systematic search of PubMed and Embase was conducted. The sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curves (AUC) were evaluated using Meta-DiSc. ⋯ The AUC was not statistically different (Z=0.737, p=0.461). This data suggest that the contrast-enhanced CT has better diagnostic performance for acute appendicitis than non-contrast CT. Key Words: Acute appendicitis, Contrast-enhanced computed tomography' scan, Non-contrast-enhanced computed tomography' scan, Meta-analysis.

Meta AnalysisCombination Treatment with Iodine 125 Seeds Implant and Systemic Therapy vs. Systemic Therapy Alone for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Combination treatment with iodine 125 seeds implant and systemic therapy in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a promising treatment practice. The present study aimed to assess the relative efficacy and toxicity of combination treatment versus systemic therapy alone in patients with NSCLC. Databases including PubMed, EBSCO, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CNKI, and WanFang were searched for relevant randomised controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ In terms of adverse events, the combination therapy significantly increased the incidence of pneumothorax (RR = 4.91, 95% CI: 2.63 - 9.17, p <0.001); however, no significant differences were found in the incidence of myelosuppression and gastrointestinal symptoms. Combination treatment with iodine 125 seeds implant and systemic therapy can significantly improve clinical response and prolong two-year OS in NSCLC patients without increasing the incidence of myelosuppression and gastrointestinal symptoms, except pneumothorax. Key Words: Brachytherapy, Radioactive seeds, NSCLC, Systemic therapy.
