Case ReportsThe role of Intraoperative 3D navigation for pelvic bone tumor resection.
Interventional 3D analysis is often used for surgery of the spine. The goal of this study was to describe the technique and initial results of intraoperative 3D CT navigation (O-Arm, Medtronic, Louisville, CO, USA) for surgery of the pelvis. Six patients were included, five with primary bone tumors and one with post-traumatic non-union. All CT procedures were completed without modifying the surgical technique, except one case in which the device had to be reinstalled during surgery. The duration of surgery was not increased and lasted for a mean 224minutes (96-380). Recorded radiation was between 450-1125mGrey/cm. All procedures were performed according to the preoperative plan resulting in systematic resection with a safe surgical margin (R0). One surgical site infection occurred. Although these operations could have been performed without 3-D navigation, this technique provided continuous intraoperative control and safety. ⋯ IV.

Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for patellar instability following total knee arthroplasty: A review of 6 cases.
Patellar instability is a frequent cause of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) failure. In cases of post-arthroplasty patellar instability, the medial structures may be damaged. The objective of this study was to study the effectiveness of medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction. We hypothesized that MPFL reconstruction will effectively realign the patella, making it a viable treatment option for managing post-arthroplasty patellar instability. ⋯ IV - Retrospective cohort study.

Review Case ReportsLumbar Morel-Lavallée lesion: Case report and review of the literature.
The Morel-Lavallée lesion (MLL) is a rarely reported closed degloving injury, in which shearing forces have lead to break off subcutaneous tissues from the underlying fascia. Lumbar MLL have been rarely reported to date, explaining that patients are frequently misdiagnosed. ⋯ We report the clinical and radiological features of a 45-year old man with voluminous lumbar MLL initially misdiagnosed. We also reviewed the relevant English literature to summarize the diagnostic tools and the main therapeutic options.

Multicenter StudyTotal knee arthroplasty revision with trabecular tantalum cones: Preliminary retrospective study of 51 patients from two centres with a minimal 2-year follow-up.
Successful management of large bone defects is of crucial importance when performing revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Trabecular tantalum cones may improve prosthesis fixation via their potential for reconstructing a stable metaphyseal support. The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes and the complications of tantalum cones in revision TKA. ⋯ IV, retrospective therapeutic study.

Clinical TrialFull-thickness cartilage-based posterior femoral condylar offset. Influence on knee flexion after posterior-stabilized total knee arthroplasty.
The association between posterior condylar offset (PCO) and maximal knee flexion remains controversial. The measured PCO in the previous studies is usually determined on the plain radiographs without taking into account the cartilage thickness. ⋯ Level 4 Cohort Study.
