Meta AnalysisTreatment of pediatric femoral shaft fractures with elastic stable intramedullary nails versus external fixation: A meta-analysis.
There is currently a debate about whether elastic stable intramedullary nails (ESIN) or external fixation (EF) is the best surgical method for treating pediatric femoral shaft fractures. We performed a meta-analysis to determine which surgical method leads to higher treatment satisfaction, lower complication rates, and reduced treatment time, to investigate whether ESIN is the preferred surgical method for treatment of pediatric femoral shaft fractures. ⋯ IV.

Randomized Controlled TrialHow periarticular corticosteroid injections impact the integrity of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
Multimodal analgesic (MMA) injections combined with corticosteroids have recently been shown to be effective for managing pain after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. ⋯ II, low-powered placebo-controlled, randomized study.

The iliac pillar - Definition of an osseous fixation pathway for internal and external fixation.
Increasing numbers of unstable pelvic ring fractures, due to the ongoing demographic change and improvements in the rescue of high-energy traumatic events, are challenging trauma and orthopedic surgeons. While initial installation of an external fixation device is often necessary, placement of iliac crest pins can be difficult due to the complex osteology of the ilium. ⋯ Anatomical descriptive study.

A new internal fixation technique for acetabular fractures involving the quadrilateral plate.
The treatment of acetabular fracture involving the quadrilateral plate is a technical challenge, and the optimal management of the fracture remains controversial. We have designed a new implant (named acetabular fracture reduction internal fixator, AFRIF) for acetabular fractures involving the quadrilateral plate. This use of this new device was not investigated therefore we conducted a retrospective study aiming to determine whether the AFRIF can achieve satisfactory clinical and radiological outcomes for quadrilateral plate fracture. ⋯ IV, retrospective study.
