The greatest burden from stroke-related disability is borne by Low-and-Middle Income countries (LMICs) where access to rehabilitation after stroke is severely challenged. Tele-rehabilitation could be a viable avenue to address unmet rehabilitation needs in LMICs. ⋯ Despite, a high burden of residual disability, only about 1 out of 4 stroke patients in this Ghanaian cohort was exposed to post-stroke physiotherapy services, largely due to relatively high costs and limited health system resources. These Ghanaian stroke patients viewed the potential role of Tele-rehabilitation as positive, but this promising intervention needs to be formally tested for feasibility, efficacy and cost-effectiveness.

To characterize clinical and imaging features in patients with pathologically confirmed demyelinating lesions. ⋯ Pathologically confirmed TDLs call for careful clinical correlation, clinical follow-up and imaging surveillance. Although sometimes clinically monophasic, tumefactive demyelinating lesions carried nearly a 45% risk of near-term clinical relapse in our study, even when presenting initially as a solitary mass lesion.

Evaluation of polymerase chain reaction in nerve biopsy specimens of patients with Hansen's disease.
Pure neuritic variety of leprosy (PNL) presents as peripheral neuropathy with absent skin lesions and negative skin smears. Diagnosing PNL is an uphill task as most of these patients have nonspecific changes on nerve biopsy. In such circumstances, additional molecular diagnostic tools like polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has proven to be useful in diagnosing leprosy. The present study was planned to evaluate the role of PCR in nerve biopsy specimens of patients with PNL. ⋯ PCR helps in diagnosing PNL in doubtful cases. A positive PCR increases the sensitivity of detection of M. leprae especially in cases of probable PNL group where AFB cannot be demonstrated on histopathology.

Neurosarcoidosis occurs in about 5% to 15% of patients with sarcoidosis. The purpose of this study was to identify and characterize a cohort of neurosarcoidosis patients and to review the largest previously reported neurosarcoidosis case series. ⋯ Fully comprehension of neurosarcoidosis is still a challenge due to its rarity and limited number of large published series, which renders the epidemiological study of this disease very difficult. In this study, the thoroughly medical records review and the summarize of previous published cohorts allow to add some information in the epidemiological and clinical knowledge of this entity.

Abnormal glucose regulation, hypoglycemic treatment during hospitalization and prognosis of acute ischemic stroke.
To examine the effect of abnormal glucose regulation on prognosis and whether hypoglycemic treatment during hospitalization improves prognosis in acute ischemic stroke patients. ⋯ Abnormal glucose regulation, especially DM, increased risks of 3-month poor outcomes after an acute ischemic stroke and hypoglycemic treatment during hospitalization might improve prognosis in ischemic stroke patients with DM.
