Comparative Study
[Comparison of semitransparent colored labels with opaque colored labels for prevention of adverse drug administration].
We made a semitransparent color label to supplement a demerit of an opaque color label for prevention of adverse drug administration, and evaluated whether a semitransparent color label is superior to an opaque color label. ⋯ The semitransparent color label is superior to the opaque color label in discrimination and adhesion.

Case Reports
[Anesthetic management for Cesarean section in a patient with left ventricular noncompaction].
Left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC) is a rare disease characterized by heart failure, arrhythmia, and embolic events. We report anesthetic management of a pregnant woman with LVNC. At 24 weeks gestation of the first pregnancy, the patient was scheduled for Cesarean section. ⋯ About 2 years later, the patient also underwent cesarean section under spinal anesthesia at 34 weeks gestation of the second pregnancy, because her cardiac function was almost normal and she was not receiving anticoagulant therapy. Both perioperative courses were uneventful. Careful preoperative assessment and close anesthetic planning are necessary.

Comparative Study
[Lumbar epidural morphine for postoperative analgesia in children undergoing Nuss procedure].
We examined the effects of lumbar epidural morphine for postoperative analgesia in children after the Nuss procedure for funnel chest. ⋯ Epidural morphine 30 microg x kg(-1) given at the beginning of operation provided effective analgesia on the 0th postoperative day after the Nuss procedure. However, epidural infusion of morphine 3 microg x kg(-1) x hr(-1) was not effective after the 1st postoperative day. Further study is needed to determine the lumbar epidural infusion dose of morphine adequate for use after the Nuss procedure.

A 32-year-old woman with Marfan syndrome was diagnosed as annuloaortic ectasia and acute aortic dissection at 20 weeks of gestation. At 24 weeks of gestation, she got heart failure. Bentall's procedure was performed under cardiopulmonary bypass. ⋯ We used dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone and nitroglycerin for weaning of cardiopulmonary bypass. Fetal heart rate was monitored, and was stable at 120 bpm throughout the operation. At 33 weeks of pregnancy a healthy baby was delivered by cesarian section.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial
[General anesthesia by propofol infusion for delivery by cesarean section compared with sevoflurane anesthesia using bispectral index (BIS) monitoring].
We compared the postoperative effects of propofol and sevoflurane used for anesthesia during elective cesarean section, using bispectral index (BIS) monitoring. ⋯ Comparing the effects of propofol and sevoflurane on the postoperative condition of parturients, no differences could be detected. We can choose to use propofol instead of sevoflurane for cesarean section.
