Multicenter Study
[Effect of landiolol hydrochloride for intraoperative tachycardia--multicenter questionnaire study].
The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of landiolol hydrochloride, which is an ultra-short-acting beta-1 selective blocker, for intraoperative tachycardia and to establish practical methods of administration of the drug. ⋯ Information obtained by the questionnaire suggests that bolus injection and/or low-dose continuous administration of landiolol, which are not described in the drug information documents, are effective and safe for treatment of tachycardia during anesthesia.

Tracheal extubation and emergence procedures induce abrupt changes in hemodynamics and humoral responses. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of different doses of landiolol on hemodynamics during emergence from anesthesia. ⋯ Landiolol could prevent the increase in heart rate but not blood pressure during emergence from anesthesia. Effects on the changes in heart rate between 0.125 and 0.06 landiolol groups were not significantly different.

Multicenter Study
[Long-term efficacy and safety of pregabalin in patients with postherpetic neuralgia: results of a 52-week, open-label, flexible-dose study].
The efficacy of pregabalin was demonstrated in a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled 13-week trial in 371 Japanese patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). In this study, we evaluated the long-term efficacy and safety of pregabalin for relief of PHN. ⋯ These results suggest that long-term treatment of pregabalin may be beneficial in patients with PHN.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study
[Neuromuscular blocking effects of Org 9426 (rocuronium bromide); a comparative study with vecuronium bromide in Japanese patients].
Efficacy and safety of Org 9426 were compared with those of vecuronium bromide in Japanese patients. ⋯ Org 9426 showed more rapid onset time than that of vecuronium and similar clinical duration and recovery times to those of vecuronium in Japanese patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
[Effects of sevoflurane and propofol on neuromuscular blocking action of Org 9426 (rocuronium bromide) infused continuously in Japanese patients].
The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction of anesthetic agents with Org 9426 (rocuronium bromide) infused continuously. The effect of intubation dose of Org 9426 on its infusion rate was also investigated. ⋯ Patients receiving sevoflurane anesthesia required a markedly lower Org9426 infusion rate compared with patients receiving propofol anesthesia.
