Metabolic revitalization: exploring erythrocyte fatty acid profile following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
Obesity is linked to metabolic disorders. Bariatric surgery offers a promising therapeutic effect in the treatment of obesity, but its impact on fatty acid (FA) profiles within erythrocytes and the associated clinical implications remain underexplored. ⋯ The study underscores distinct post‑LSG changes in erythrocyte FA profiles, potentially associated with reduced weight and BMI, improved inflammatory status, and lower cardiovascular disease risk.

The impact of socioeconomic factors and obesity on visual impairment among older adults in Poland.
Visual impairment is a significant public health concern, particularly among older adults in Poland. ⋯ Our study showed that socioeconomic factors significantly impact visual health. Visual impairment was the most prevalent among older age groups (≥75 years), individuals with lower education levels or no education, the unemployed, and those who used to perform non-white-collar jobs. Additionally, obesity was inversely associated with the odds of visual impairment.

High-dose atorvastatin and rosuvastatin reduce neutrophil extracellular traps-related proteins in coronary artery disease: association with prothrombotic state.
Neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation is involved in atherothrombosis. ⋯ We showed for the first time that high‑dose statins can reduce the level of NET‑related proteins in association with anti‑inflammatory and antithrombotic actions in CAD patients.

Expression of lncRNAs NEAT1, PACERR, and GAS5 can be associated with disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have long been considered molecular noise within the transcriptome, but over time it has been shown that they perform many important biological functions and are associated with various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ⋯ Circulating plasma lncRNAs may be considered as supporting molecular markers associated with RA activity and may be useful in identifying disease exacerbation.
