[The protective effect of angiopoietin-1 on early acute lung injury induced by oleic acid in mice].
To observe the protective effects of angiopoietin-1 on acute lung injury (ALI) induced by oleic acid at early stage in mice and to investigate the expression changes of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). ⋯ Angiopoietin-1 is effective in relieving the severity of acute lung injury induced by oleic acid in mice at early stage and up-regulating VEGF expression in BALF and lung tissues but down-regulating VEGF expression in serum. The results suggest that angiopoietin-1 may exert beneficial effects on ALI.

Review Case Reports[Methacillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia complicated with septicemia, multiple aneurysms and arterial thrombosis: a case report and review of the literature].
To improve the understanding of the clinical manifestations of complications caused by methacillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) pneumonia. ⋯ MRSA pneumonia complicated with multiple aneurysm and arterial thrombosis is uncommon. Endothelial injury caused by arteritis may lead to blood coagulation, and vascular muscle injury can cause or aggravate arterial dilatation and aneurysm.

Case Reports[Retrospective analysis of three cases of pulmonary mucormycosis].
To describe the clinical characteristics of pulmonary mucormycosis and to evaluate the approaches to its diagnosis and treatment. ⋯ The mortality of pulmonary mucormycosis is high. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy is a useful diagnostic method for histopathologic examination. Successful treatment of pulmonary mucormycosis includes early diagnosis, control of underlying diseases and surgical intervention of isolated lesions combined with large dosage of amphotericin B.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Physiologic response to external positive end-expiratory pressure in mechanically ventilated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients].
To evaluate the effects of external positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEPe) on respiratory system mechanics in passively ventilated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients. ⋯ At least in some passively ventilated COPD patients, the applied PEEPe may offer benefit by decreasing the Pplat.
