Randomized Controlled Trial[Effects of noninvasive proportional assist vs pressure support ventilation on respiratory work in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients with hypercapnia].
Objective: To investigate the effect of noninvasive proportional assist ventilation (PAV) on respiratory work in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) patients, in comparison to noninvasive pressure support ventilation(PSV). Methods: Ten severe COPD patients with hypercapnia during acute exacerbation were examined. The baseline inspiratory pressure of PSV (PS) and the assistance level of PAV(PA) were titrated by patients' tolerance. ⋯ Conclusions: Noninvasive-PAV can increase the Vt and decrease the Wip of the COPD patients with hypercapnia and avoid the over-assistance. The "Runaway" will occur at assist level higher than that set by tolerance. Physiological data can monitor the patient's responses and the ventilator-patient interaction, which may provide objective criteria for ventilator setting.

Randomized Controlled Trial[The effect of mild sedation on the prognosis and inflammatory markers in critical patients with mechanical ventilation].
To compare the effect of slight and usual sedation on the prognosis and inflammatory marker levels in patients receiving mechanical ventilation in ICU. ⋯ Slight sedation was shown to reduce the length of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay. It also decreased the levels of inflammatory markers while didn't increase the incidence of adverse reactions.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Effect of two methods of subglottic secretion drainage on the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia].
To observe the effect of two different ways of subglottic secretion drainage on the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia. ⋯ Subglottic secretion drainage by both the intermittent and the continuous methods can efficiently prevent early onset ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Randomized Controlled Trial[A study of the value of high frequency chest wall oscillation in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].
To explore the safety and efficacy of high-frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO) in invasive mechanical ventilation patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). ⋯ HFCWO is very safe and comfortable in ventilated patients with AECOPD. It reduces the total mechanical ventilation time, but cannot improve the prognosis.

Randomized Controlled Trial[A randomized controlled study of the VKORC1 and CYP2C9 genotypes in guiding warfarin therapy for pulmonary thromboembolism].
To evaluate the clinical application of a dosing algorithm by genotypes in prediction of warfarin maintenance dose in Chinese patients with pulmonary thromboembolism. ⋯ The warfarin stable dose prediction algorithm, containing genetic factors and non-heritage factors, can significantly shorten the adjustment time to reach warfarin stable dose, and reduce the incidence of side effects, and is clinically applicable.
